Talking to the FFG guys, they forced me to take the X-Wing logo off of my software. They may never do anything about it, but be careful. Don't take unnecessary risks just for the sake of style.
One App to rule them all...........
I am going to do my best to obtain permission to use the logo. If i can't, it's an easy thing to remove.

A good mentality to have. Admittedly I had only talked to the TOs at GenCon and that was mid tournament. The legal department may have conditions they can more easily dictate to you. Their email address is on the website somewhere.
If voidstate has survived this long with it, I doubt they will say anything unless you start making profits with it.
Edited by KillerardvarkThe work I put into this is for pure love of the game and the community. I would never expect to to make money for my effort to make the app.

FYI: Apple rejected X-Wing Companion because of the use of the X-Wing logo and the inclusion of card images. I removed the X-Wing logo and contacted FFG's legal department to ask for permission to use the card images. They said they couldn't give official permission for it.
You might have more luck, but because of this I couldn't release XWC on the App Store
I don't intend on using card art in the app. I also know by building towards Apple, I'm facing the most difficult approval process. If I can get it on iOS I can get it anywhere.
Alright, good luck
I've been thinking of releasing XWC without the card images, but haven't decided yet. It feels very different to the Android app.
I think the key is communication. If you contact FFG and let them know what you're doing and how you'd like to go about it, they will work with you to help you make a good and legal product. They want the community to grow and if your app will facilitate that then there is no reason for them not to encourage that.
