Escalation List help

By tiefanatic, in X-Wing

I think I've decided on my list for an Escalation tourney on Saturday:

Round 1 (60 Points)

2x Delta Squadron Pilot

Round 2 (90 Points)

2x Delta Squadron Pilot

2x Obsidian Squadron Pilot w/TC

Round 3 (120 Points)

2x Delta Squadron Pilot w/HLC

2x Obsidian Squadron Pilot w/TC

Backstabber

Round 4 (150 Points)

2x Delta Squadron Pilot w/HLC

1x Delta Squadron Pilot

2x Obsidian Squadron Pilot w/TC

Backstabber

Thoughts?

I like it. 3 Defenders in a list should draw your opponent's focus away from the lowly Obsidians and Backstabber. Though for the 30 points your spending on the naked Delta, you could put a Sigma Phantom in there with ACD and VI. Then your opponent really has 3 separate threats that it needs to deal with - The TIE's, The Defenders, and a Phantom. All 3 components are deadly on their own, and forcing your opponent to divide his attention allows your other components an opportunity to attack him where he leasts expects it.

This what I ran last escalation:

1st

5x Academy TIE

+

2nd

1x Academy TIE, Howlrunner

+

3rd

OGP shuttle, engine upgrade, gunner

+

4th

OGP shuttle, engine upgrade, gunner

3-1, lost very first game. Just could not hit nor evade to save my life.

Umm...Sigmas can't take EPTs.

I like it as well. Not sure how to adjust it in your list but if you could get a Bounty Hunter in place of the 3rd Delta, that definitely gives a different threat your opponents needs to deal with.

Sounds similar to the last escalation tourney list i ran. I chose to follow Standard Imperial Doctrine and fly as many ships as possible.

1st - 5 Academy Pilot TIEs

2nd - Add 1 Academy Pilot TIE and Howlrunner.(TIE)

3rd - Add 1 Academy Pilot TIE (now at max 8 TIEs) and 1 Scimitar Bomber, 2 points remaining

4th - Add 2 Scimitar Bombers.

I expected to run into Super Falcons and was not disappointed - played 1 in each of the first 3 rounds. I outnumbered my opponents ships in every round: 5 to 2 in round 1, 7 to 2 in round 2, 9 to 3 in round 3, and 11 to 7 in round 4. Lost a total of 6 ships between all 4 rounds - all Academy Pilots. Lost 1 in round 1, 3 in round 2, 1 in round 3 and 1 in round 4.

Although I will say flying that many ships gave me a major headache by the end of round 4.

If i just got another Obsidian instead of Backstabber i could do that...and I do love Firesprays...

D'oh!

You're right of course.. Either way, with or without the EPT, The Sigma is still a threat. In that case, swap out VI for Intelligence Agent.
