so TabletopXwingPilot showed us his rusted out Firespray, which was something that i wanted to do to my own, and inspired me to start on my own. this is a WIP
the victim:
step one was to put down a warm brown for my rust. i used Mournfang Brown from the citadel range:
then i picked out some sections with Altdorf Guard Blue and a few panels with Averland Sunset, i alsobuilt up some shading by drybrushing and highlighting the browm panels with Skrag Brown
next i picked out a few fiddley bits with black and over the black i applied Ledbelcher silver, i gently highlighted the blue panels with Cargar Blue and Yriel Yellow (i didnt snap a pic of that stage) then i washed the entire model with Argax Earthshade.
after the wash dried i went over the model with a Sakura Pigma Micron 005 micro pen. i cannot stress enough how easy this is and how it makes all your panels pop. the 005 size pen is small enough to do panels on all ships
when i use washes and glazes i never just drown the model, i use them mostly as filters to soften highlight transisions. in this case though i let the wash run a little heavy in places to add a little more dingy effect
so at this point i was happy with the results so far and decided to take it outside to hit it with a couple of coats of testors dullcoat. after the first coat of dullcoat. the dog got a little crazy and bumped the table, which knocked over the model and broke the peg slot in the ship. no worried though, easy fix....until plastic glue dripped on the hull and ate some paint away.
ohs noes!!!!! easy fix though.
now stage one done. im wondering if i should take the rust up one more shade before i start weathering.
what y'all thing
