Questions about the CR90

By Misfitsrun, in X-Wing

Just a few questions regarding the CR90. Was in a game with the Corvette and some things came up and need some clarifications on.

1)Primary Weapon: "When attacking you may spend 1 energy to roll 1 additional attack die." If I have 5 energy can I dump all energy in to the attack for 9 red dice?

2)Backup shield generators: can I spend more than 1 energy?

3)Lambda with ST-321 and Weapons engineer: can it target lock both the Fore and Aft in the same Action?

4)Proton Bombs: If this is dropped in front of the CR90 and the back is in range will it damage both parts if the Fore is in the way? What if the Fore is crippled?

5) crippled Fore: if it hits a obstacle, is the damage ignored or is it transferred to the Aft

1. Can only spend 1 die for 1 extra

2. think that is again 1 die per turn

3. Yes

4. Hmm not sure on this one I think if both are in the blast both get hit

5. Pretty sure a crippled section is immune to further damage so it would be ignored

You can only use an ability once per opportunity, so if a card says "spend 1 energy..." for an effect, you can only spend a single point.

Pretty sure the proton bomb question is covered in a FAQ somewhere. No, if the bomb can hit both sections it only hits the one. Can't remember where that is stated though.

Crippled sections are immune to further damage. Also, Crippled sections cannot be "uncrippled", even if a damage card is somehow removed.

Can't remember how Huge ships interact with TLs though, so I can's provide any support for Rob's answer there.

FAQ covers Assault Missile Splash Damage, but not Proton bombs. Reading the card it says each ship at range 1 receives a face-up damage card, so I assume it can only affect 1 section. Not sure who chooses...

On the Proton Bombs, I believe it only hits the nearest section, though it would be thematic if it hit both. Bombing a huge ship should be more devastating than one crit.

Pulled most of these from page 5 and page 7 on the CR-90 rule book.

  1. For Primary weapon the rules say you may perform ONE attack with its primary weapon and ONE attack with each of its secondary weapons. It doesn't say anything about energy spending, if this is an upgrade card you are talking about then the card clearly states one energy for one re-roll, no more than that.
  2. Again 1 for 1, it basically allows you to regenerate your shields without having to use the recover action and completely deplete your energy reserves.
  3. Target locks are never obstructed and you can only TL a single section so weapon engineer can let you TL both sections if you so choose. However when targeting a section for attacking draw a line to the nearest point of that section, if it is not obstructed by the blue center line on the CR-90's base the attacker may declare that section as the target of their attacks.
  4. Section on Damage, If an effect would damage both sections of the CR-90 the opposing player chooses ONE section. If the CR-90 suffers damage from a source but does not affect a single section the opposing player chooses which section suffers the damage. (I know it would be thematic if proton bombs could damage more than one section, after all aren't bombers supposed to take out the big ships? However the advantage is that you get to choose if you happen to hit both.)
  5. Crippled sections cannot be the target of an attack and cannot suffer any damage.
