Stealth X - an X-Wing with Cloak

By Darth Ruin, in X-Wing

'Stealth-X', Title Upgrade, 2 points. X-Wing Only. Ship gains the Cloak Action.

New life into the X-Wing, sells an X-Wing repaint. Could come in a Jedi Aces pack featuring Jaina Solo, Jacen Solo, Kyp Durron, Saba Sebatyne, Ganner Rhysode etc. I'm pretty sure this is planned some time in the next couple of years.

As nice as they would be, they're well outside the game's scope. This game is Original Trilogy and early EU in time frame, while everything you mention is set one or more decades beyond that. Not a snowball's chance in hell, I'm afraid.

How do you justify two points for Cloak when a SD is three?

Probably because without an advanced cloaking device it will restrict the ship to only firing half the time.

Personally, to me the stealth x is just an x-wing with a stealth device.

Yeah

I agree with Forgottenlore. A Stealth X is just an Xwing with a stealth device and painted black.

Phantom PS 3 25

Rookie+Stealth X 23

Any higher cost than 2 would make it overcosted, considering ACD is also an auto-take on the higher PS pilots.

Stealth-Xs were flown exclusively by Jedi pilots due to the way comms worked and were nearly invisible in space. Regardless, X-Wing+Cloak is a far more fun mechanic than X-Wing + Stealth Device, which is currently available and uncompetitive.

Probably thought we'd never get a third faction either, or TIE Phantoms for that matter.

I'm not interested in the StealthX as a ship; it's the X-wing as redesigned by Nigel Tufnel ("...it's like how much more black could this be? And the answer is none. None more black.")

And mechanically I'm not interested in X-wings with Cloaking Devices.

The third faction matches the time frame. As does the TIE Phantom. What is your point?

It never ceases to amaze me when people can't understand that cloaking and stealth are two completely different things.

What the???!!? Where did you come from. Freakin WWstealth...or is it WWcloack? Oh well who cares.

I say no to thee... Paint your xwing black and give it a stealth device if you want a "Stealth X"... I mean c'mon, it's even in the name.

I'm ok with an X-Wing getting a cloaking device at two points. However it should take the modification spot for that point value.

Wait, he didn't make it a modification?

Oh, hell yeah, it's definitely a mod.

Otherwise I am picturing Biggs in a stealth x with a stealth device and the agility droid for what... 6 agility.

Stealth-X is part of the New Jedi Order. That puts it firmly in Highlander 2 territory as far as I'm concerned. Please, let that entire chunk of the EU die in the burning fires of horrible that it deserves.

Ouch. I would have a hard time coming up with a more damning comparison.

The holiday special maybe.

Stealth-X is part of the New Jedi Order.

Legacy of the Force, actually. That was Highlander 2 levels of total disaster; the NJO was fine.

I'm cool with the X-wing pack that comes with that. But I also hope that we got an Ewok version of wedge from the X-wing series as well... http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Kettch

I didn't know F-22s had optical camoflauge, OP.

If we were to do that I'd make the stealth X its own ship rather than an upgrade, just because defensive biggs would be so stupid if it were a title.

Outer Rim Smuggler + Tactical Jammer (28)

Biggs Darklighter + R2-F2 + Experimental Interface (31)

Green Squadron Pilot + Chardaan Refit + Wingman (19)

Blue Squadron Pilot (22)

Only because it could be a Biggs rolling 5 evade dice and have a focus to boot.

Only for scenarios I can see say giving another ship an experimental cloaking device which counts as a modification. However there are some things that should be added since the Phantom should remain the crown F-117 nighthawk stealth fighter.

  • Experimental cloaking device takes up a modification slot for the cost of 7 points (use campaign token to represent this upgrade. limit 2)
  • While cloaked it will increased the agility by 2 to a maximum of 4 agility. Other bonuses may apply after the cloak effect (such as royal interceptor with ExCD and SD which will make agility 5 until hit not 6.)
  • Cloak and De-cloak actions are as normal cloaking decloaking actions on a regular phantom.

From what I've read they didn't cloak like a phantom they just had low visibility to sensors and were black on black, so one extra agility would be what they get.

wasn't the stealth X a completely different fighter from the regular X-wing? I thought it was slightly smaller and less powerful offensive wise. Also had different engines that did not glow and other stealth features. and it was used in the last X-wing series book. yeah i know its not canon now.. granted that book takes place like 20 or so years after the first one. would still think it could fit into the time frame... .
