Campaign: Inquisitor's Path

By DagobahDave, in X-Wing

Thanks Dave. I will play test this in a few weeks and tell you what I think.

It looks really good!

"...and the Emperor’s most fearsome henchman"

?!

I believe you mean "the Emperor's most important bulwark against terrorism and chaos".

DagobahDave is a known agent of terrorism and chaos. Our inquisitors are hunting him as we type. (Given what I just typed, maybe soon the NSA ISB as well.)

It looks really neat. I love your use of unusual starting positions, but I'd love to see a little more variation in the battle map/obstacles.

The last battles seem to me a little.. well. not that interesting. Perhaps make it so that you designate one of your ships as the Jedi Knight/Inquisitor as hidden information. And make their ability a little more potent... say change 1 blank into a hit. And the objective of either side is to defeat the Jedi/Inquis but only after you find out which ship it is via scan action or their revealing by using the special ability?

On a practical level, how would you hide them? Doesn't that make it pretty hard to check your opponent's math and properly deploy your ships to counter what they're bringing?

On a thematic level, does it make sense that the Inquisitor (or Vader) would know who the Jedi is, and vice versa? I figure they'd just sense it with the Force. Scanning for it doesn't really make sense to me.

On a power level, I think the fact that the Inquisitor and the Jedi Knight come fully-loaded with all of their upgrade slots, mods and titles filled, and an elite talent, makes them unusually powerful. The ability to turn a blank into a focus just gives them that little something extra without making them invincible, and plays into the thematic idea of using your focus (literally) to turn nothing into something.

I think you'll just have to see how the obstacle placement works out. It's a bit different from the standard setup, and we really only have so many obstacle options to work with at this time. For a more involved campaign, see my Battle of Dhoxa (available through the link in my sig). I've designed a long and varied campaign that will take a few sessions and require a big collection and offers unusual objectives, but this one is designed to be played in an afternoon with a modest collection and be more similar to the standard dogfight format. :)

mmhmm. Well, seems okay.

It feels a little weird to me, but I'll have to try it.

how do you get to the Battle of Dhoxa? I don't see the link
