Not sure if I've missed a post about this along the way, but is there any info on force screams in the F&D corebook? Would love to incorporate it! One of my favs from the WEG days. If not, does anyone have any ideas to create it? I'm sure it will probably come along in some dark side splat, but in the meantime, I'd love your thoughts!

Unleash or Influence with the Strength upgrade.

I'm thinking Influence with the Strength Upgrade as well as Range and Magnitude Upgrades to hit more targets.

Going by the description of a Force "scream" that we have in The Last Command, from what Mara was saying it seemed more an irritation than a truly debilitating effect. Kind of like having someone shout very loudly while only being a few inches away from your ear.

Yes, but while C'Baoth's scream can be described this way, don't we have other examples in the EU where a Force Scream could shatter into machinery and even hurt people? I think Darth Malgus' scream in "Book of the Sith" was so intense it caused some starship destruction. Also, Ulic Qel Droma's scream caused a lot of property damage in Tales of the Jedi (:

I would go with Unleash as of now, but I think it would be better suited as a Talent within the Agressor Tree, since its involuntary and such.... Maybe it could be triggered by suffering damage or being frustrated, I don't know....

It's definitely an attack in The Old Republic MMO. It does damage as well as a short stun effect (only a second or two from memory).

We are getting into the "Force users always use the force for everything always" trope. Some people see Han complain about the smell Luke left in the Falcon's head and go right to a purging of the darkside, even if the authors intent had less to do with conflict points and more to do with Chewie's reactor breach chili...

Decide what definition of Force Scream you want and go with that.

The fluff in F&D describes the Unleash power as "blast an enemy with a surge of manifest emotion." Sure sounds like that could handle some kind of Force-empowered scream. If you want to do some kind of Force Scream it seems perfectly reasonable to just use Unleash as is and describe it as you want to fit the narrative.

Agreed with most of what's listed above; Unleash specifically calls out lightning or "bitter waves of cold", but it can also be defined as fire or sonic attacks as well.

You could mimic in the beta as the initial stage of unleash, before the burn quality and strength upgrades are purchased and applied.

But based on the book of the sith, the KOTOR games, and SWTOR, I would say that it would be best represented in a Force power, based on the hatred power in the Book of the Sith. Sadly away from Book right now, but I believe it's Bane and one other that discuss the focussing of Hatred into powerful telekinetic blasts, and I think Force scream blends nicely into that power.

Say as a base power, it deals strain to engaged enemies. further upgrades would allow you to disorient enemies, a range upgrade would increase that to short range, strength upgrades would increase the effect, and a duration upgrade could maintain the effect as telekinetic waves roll off you.

I've been working on my own homebrew powers for that and shatter, as they are well established EU pieces (at least if you like Cade skywalker, Bane, and some of the Sith lore). . that is the direction i have gone in my home game, subject to the beta revisions and the Book itself being released.
