Modifying StarVipers

By bayruun, in X-Wing

I know this is very premature, but I think the StarViper is one of the coolest ships in Star Wars in part due to its squid-like nature. I find the model doesn't quite convey that in its current iteration, and I'd like to modify mine to be swept-back, as if moving quickly. Looking at the model, this shouldn't be too difficult to do.

Anyone else planning such a conversion?

What??? You're going to mod that beautiful Mando ship?

I'm just going to cut it so it's in flight mode, or somewhere between flight and attack. It's just changing the position of the S-foils. Nothing to worry about, easy to do, hopefully.

As long as you don't wreck it. If you do, i will personally fly to wherever you live and SMASH YOU WITH A HAMMER!

Yeah I might since I am going to have three. It would be easy to do too...

That's exactly why I was thinking of doing it, too. I will have three, and I very much want them to look dynamic, since they are very dynamic ships.

If I wreck one, I'll be far sadder about it than anyone else.

No you won't. If anything Mando is wrecked in any game or movie or anything, I am the most upset person of all.

You must have cried when Fett's carbine was destroyed by Luke.

Yup.

I'm hoping to get 8 of them for epic :D

All you have to do is gently carve the back of the wings at the body joining line with an exacto. Then you can bend the forward or backwards and hit them with glue and you are done.

Very easy to do and very cool to look at.

;)

They look like my son's Bakugans.

There, I said it. :)

I want to roll this ugly bastard back up into a ball and leave it in the storage case. (Because I have a problem, I'll end up with two or three, but this is the first ship I truly dislike.)

I am going the twelve Seeks route cause my Assault Carriers carry six small ships each.

YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! OYA MANDA!

Now add in the BAMF Star Vipers and Firesprays and some Y-s & Z's to the picture.

:D

I think I've found a good many fans of Mando can'gala* here. I have every intention of getting everything Mandalmotors made. I will likely also try for a Mandalorian theme in my Scum.

Given that this thread is already overrun with vode, does anyone know how Mandos painted their ships? Were they individual like armour, or more uniform?

(*I'm assuming, from what I can see of Mando'a word construction, that the suffix -a is plural for items).

The colors can go any way. Just pick what you like and go for it.

Time to break out some paint and sacrifice a Headhunter to the mythosaur. For science!

May the Manda be with you, vod.

When working in the S-Foils of the Viper you might pin them instead of just straight out gluing them, that way you can expand them and contract them while in flight for more effect. I did the same sort of thing on a B-Wing with the cockpit and the part that connects to the stand. All you do is pinch the cockpit and you can spin the B-Wing around to different angles like it was actually flying.

I feel like that's easier to do on the B-Wing, since the "joint" for the cockpit is much larger. If somebody is willing to try it out on the 'viper, I'll certainly give copying it a good try, but I'm not handy enough to do the trial and error.
