Colony PF

By filliman, in Rogue Trader

Another question, this one far more relevant. So Stars of Iniquity is kinda hard to glean info from, my question being that it isn't clear to me that, when you found a colony, does its PF value get added every cycle, or is it a static modifier to your Profit Factor?

I'm pretty sure it's a static modifier. As written they're already a massively unbalanced way to gain profit factor. Cumulative additions would be insane on top of that.

I'd have to second what Erathia said - it'd also be illogical given that profit factor represents, well, the continuing turning of a profit. A colony's only making some much extra money, not more higher profits every year.

While I'm not sure if it says or not, I always interpreted it as a static modifier.

As Quicksilver suggested, Profit Factor represents something specific, and that is not pure wealth, but rather economical strength and influence. Even if a colony keeps turning a profit, it's not turned into liquidated assets that influences profit factor. Profit Factor represents your overall resources.

It would make no sense if colonies kept increasing profit factor every cycle.

While I'm sure it is supposed to be a static modifier I'd be tempted to have give the colony it's own profit factor that is completely distinct from the Rogue Trader's profit factor. As the colony should have a lesser profit factor it wouldn't have any effect just sending all those resources to the Rogue Trader's group so the colony's profit factor becomes a way of dealing with the colony's misfortunes, expanding the colony and buying gifts for the Rogue Trader when they visit.

Static Modifier. I actually keep track of the player's PF seperately and then add each colonies PF on to that to form their total PF. Any time any of those changes, I do the calculation from scratch.
