First game, Wave 5

By DoubleNot7, in X-Wing

We played a 200 point impromptu scenario. Played on a 4x6 table. Rebels had to travel the length of the board and escape with their yt1300 and yt2400. 20140901_132353_zpsxek7mu0j.jpg

The Outrider performed well but spent most of the game running and escaped barely with the Decimater on it's tail. The Decimater likewise was fun however it only scored 1 point any time it fired. The best damage it did all game hitting 2 Xwings that were chasing it with a proton bomb. That splashed one of those Xwings and damaged the other.

I also had a good hit with another proton bomb delivered by a bomber; that one caught 2 xwings, a z95, and also singed one of my TIEs. That one did not end well for the headhunter.

Both ships are fun and capable. However both require a bit of extra points to make them more capable.

How were the ships crewed?

How were the ships crewed?

Presumably, with people.

I do not recall what the Outrider was equipped with fully but it did have Outrider title, engine upgrade, ion cannon.

Forgive the lack of proper names since I am not familiar with them all yet. The Vt49 had the pilot that increases agility when damaged, gunner, then new crew that caused stress to enemy at range 1 and the other gave a free evade when damaged. Vt49 also had Dauntless title, engine upgrade, and proton bomb. A hefty 70 points!

Did you find the Decimator was overlapping enemy ships often?

Wait an outrider with an ion cannon? Sounds more like an expensive y wing...

The Decimater only overlapped my own ships, and then only at the first moves. This was due to a very awkward deployment area. Unless there are a lot of enemy vessels about, I would fin it difficult to intentionally ram.

The ion certainly is not the #1 choice for the Outrider but in this case he was focusing on evade and escape. He did fully ion the Decimater once and would have done it again on the last turn had he not left the board.
