Hey, Star Destroyer fans...

Guess what Bandai is releasing at 1:1700 scale:

I wouldn't really want to play it, but heck, if you need a commercially available kit of a Star Destroyer that looks like the filming miniature, is fully lit, and is over three feet long, and snap-together, then I'd say your prayers have been answered. ;)

More on this in the 2014 Tokyo toy show (mostly just a bigger, more complete picture):

Even attempting to treat it like a ship would be ridiculous, but as a terrain feature, especially if it was just the top half, it would look amazing. And I think there hav already been people here who have made cardboard ones with removable turrets you can "buy" in lieu of ships, and which the opponent can destroy x-wing vs. Tie Fighter style.

Failing that, it's one hell of a display piece.

Exactly. As I said, I wouldn't play it, but if you really want one and don't mind it coming without stats or cards, then this should be a godsend. :)

Bandai is one of the best model companies in the world. I love their Star Blazers Yamato 2199 ranges. They are now making something that could be used for X-Wing EPIC too?!

:D

H-how much....I NEEDZ IT!

Hey Boss,

You're one of them fancy scale boys, is this correct for a Victory or an Interdictor? Also remind me what scale X-wing is again?

Fighters are 270 large ships 450.

At 3 ft, it's actually close to a Victory Class.

X-Wing is 270 scale. Yes that could be used for the small Imp Pies.

Yikes...so this this is WAY smaller than it should be. Holy Cow that sure puts the comparative size of a SD into perspective...

Which is why you'll never get an official model in x-wing, but in armarda :)

The Samurai Vader is awesome.

What is thy bidding my master?

That's... An amazingly accurate model.

Does samurai Vader have a tash?

Reminds me a lot of Death's Hand, from the long lost but great Jade Empire, by Bioware.

I wish we'd got a sequel to that.

I wish we'd got a sequel to that.

You and me both. Really nice world, interesting action-based combat and iirc Bioware's first all-orientations romance game.

I'm still butt hurt over mass effect threes ending though all those hours invested to get three identical endings...

Three identical endings that all suck, no less.

Op: Any word on price? I am assuming at least $500...

So I can't read that of course, but this is a kit and it comes with the lighting?!? This is probably the thing that will drive me to get an airbrush!!! If then my cat, Mr. Tauntaun, destroys it, it'll be just re-enacting one of the nonsensical encounters in the LCG!

So does this image! (courtesy of the OP, the esteemed MF)

Judging by the price of their Yamato stuff, I can't see that being less than five hundred.

I'm getting 3 of these suckers so I can reenact the Falcon escape from Hoth scene.

Am I the only one who thinks this thing is kind of disappointing? The fit seems to be pretty bad, the side turrets are a blobby mess, etc. If I'm going to spend a lot of money on a huge display piece like this I'd rather spend a little more and get better quality.
