[Scrath build] AEG-77 Vigo

By MacrossVF1, in X-Wing

It's only undersized if you let it be so. Basically, there is no spoon. ;)

Very nice.

And here's a screenshot of the AEG-77 on the ground. Notice the human-sized figure standing next to it. Definitely in the 45m range.

HOLY COW...of all the pictures of the VIgo you went and found a picture of MY ship from SWG.

This is good stuff, Macross!

Does anyone have a full size image of this? It is the only one I can find linked to the old SWG wiki:

How nice would this be to have hanging on the wall?

I might do that anyway, break out the blue print materials to make a wall hanger of some other ship. Taking a break from my CorSec CR-90 Interdiction repaint.

I am looking at this, the Star Wars wiki is saying this thing has six turrets and two cannons(I assume forward), in the image above we have four showing, which I marked yellow below.

What is this on the starboard side, marked in red?

Looks like part of the sensor package but it also sort of looks like a rail gun of some kind.

The thing in red IS a forward mounted railgun. The Vigo carries four turrets on top, two on the bottom and can fit two forward mounted weapons.

Seriously? That's more than a little cool. I guess there's a story behind that akward landing angle? :)

Yeah...here's the story as reported by the holonews.

Last night the traffic control of Farpoint Valley, Tatooine, received a distress call of the AEG-77 class medium freighter "Ebony Blade", captained by Barrenger Fynar. The ship had suffered engine and power failure during it's landing approach, after a fire had broken out on board.

screenShot1619.jpg

A rescue team was formed from local volunteers and headed to the point north of the town where the Ebony Blade was hovering with the help of a Nova Courier piloted by Falcun Nix. Shortly after the team arrived the Ebony Blade's repulsorlifts gave out and it set on the ground, pushing the Nova Courier into the closest dune as well.

The team then boarded the ship and started battling the fire and jury-rigging repairs to save it. After two hours the last of the fires was extinguished and the ship's system had been repaired to the point of it being able to reach Mos Entha, where it will be full repaired in the days to come.

The operation claimed one wounded and a damaged astromech among the rescue team as well as several droids attached to the ship - some of them were apparently used for spare parts for the systems.

Very nice.

Great shot kid, that's one in a million. With finding the image I mean.

Okay...

so the Aft-Starboard quarter I have marked in yellow is the sensor package?

Cool story behind that ship too, not enough to like it. . that is I mean to say I love it, liking it is not enough, LOL

yes there are a couple antenna sticking up and a dish sensor array with a quad-mount right behind it

We can call this one the AEG-78 Mortin. The smaller, economic version of the Vigo.

By the way, the red circled thing. I recognize that. That's some type of blaster cannon for the pilot, if my memory serves. Never served on a Vigo, but I know that blaster cannon shape. My old ETA-2 Actis had blasters shaped exactly like that. Y-Wing, too.

If you look at the X-Wings in the background, the AEG definitely looks to be around 45m which is equal to half a NFL field.

Your Vigo looks great, like it came right out of the game! There was some cargo containers in SWG that we always thought could in theory be carried by the Vigo. They had the same shape as the "arms". Although nothing in game ever actually supported that other than it was suppose to be a converted freighter.

El finito! Actually, there is some clean up and the weapons left but the main ship is finished! The first pic shows the detail of what would become the back of each wing. When that was complete I just glued the wings in place. Third pic show the prongs, both sides. Fourth and fifth show the details added to the nose and the last one need no explanation. The prongs are actually not glued into place yet, instead they are held in place with blue tac.

That turned out just fine! Awesome work Mac!

:D :D :D

Last update for this build but an important one. Guns baby! Four turrets should suffice, right? BTW that strip of plasticard in the first picture is just 1mm wide. Tiny, tiny guns!

Nothing says "hello" like quad laser cannons!
