Let's Talk about X - Wave 5 VT-49 Decimator

I got a request for some Wave 5 videos so I'm starting with the Decimator.

I don't really want to go into all the cards and the pieces and stuff. I think you get that elsewhere.

I faced Oicunn the other night for the first time and I didn't see his ability as much to worry about. By about turn three the game turned into a big traffic jam close to the center of the map and Oicunn turned into a big ol' battering ram for about three turns. What is nice is that it's unavoidable damage outside of combat and that's a rare thing in this game. I think my opponent did 4 damage total in the whole game but it did finish off one ship outside of combat so that ship at skill 5 never got a shot that round.

I think he'll see a lot of play, perhaps even because he's the cheapest point cost with an EPT. The Rear Admiral has a great ability but is costly, and the Commander won't work with Expose, which I get much wish to finally make use of.

I'm most excited for Oicunn (for standard play) because he'll just be such a new paradigm for Imperials and for me. Turrets, ramming, blocking, these are all strategies I've not used before. I think the Decimator will be a lot like the shuttle, in that the key to their success will be finding immense synergy and efficiency in how you decide to load them up. Lots of possible combinations to try out.

I keep looking over it and any of the specials that come with it. I can't find anything that says he can still shoot even after running over other ships, though everyone has told me he can. Can anyone clear this up for me?

He can shoot other ships than the one(s) that he is touching, he does generate hits on ships he touches though. It's his pilot ability, then paired with the title Dauntless, he gets a free action and if you use Daredevil (DD) he can barrel roll and bump again causing another point of damage the other ship suffers

Bet the mechanics will be P.O.'d when he heads back to the barn though.. I can hear it now.. Oh here comes Oicunn, bet he has some dents to pound out, that mynoc either can't fly or likes giving us more work, I haven't figured it out yet.. Oh yes Sir, a few dents in the bow section... right Sir, we'll get right on it.. sigh

Core rules, page 17. He loses his action (without the Dauntless title) but may still shoot, just not at ships he is touching.
