off topic: let's have some fun....

By Spaceman91, in X-Wing

my name is matt, and my friends call me matador (alcohol + johnny cash). i added the extra t to be clever.

actual is from radio talk, when you want the real, actual person. since folks on twitter have 'the real ____', i went with a play on that.

clever right?

/it's working out great

Conandoodle!

Because everyone loves Conan .. and everyone loves ... oh!?

Kyrios Mirage is a custom Gundam that I created a few years back. Stealth with mostly melee weapons.

Speaking of, I need to finish that kitbash....

Kerfuffin is a made up word for drugs in a Sum41 (late 90s early 2000s punk band). I've just been always drawn to it.

925 is my area code and i only added it because my Kerfuffin account never received the activation email. oh well

but my other nicknames are Franklin (the turtle), Step-child (for my red hair) and X-Thactor (my last name combined with X-factor) all from various rugby teams

Gosric is the last name of the Space Pirate Captain Einar Gosric i created for our Yamato game.

Not a thrilling story but the name Gosric despite its Germanic sound is not actually from the German but a mispronunciation of the word Gothic from a Japanese friend of mine . She would often exclaim in English "Oh my god, that is so Gothic". But was unable to correctly pronounce it.

Otherwise i dont have a lot of nicknames. I used to go by Jonathan Grey purely because when i moved to the US nobody could understand my thick London accent when i told them my birth name. Which is Ferlin Pomfrett. So i chose an alias and liked the sound of it.

One RPG PC of mine had two disadvantages: Harmless appearance and short height, which lead the other characters to make fun of him by calling "nanoshiro" (Nano, a reference for his short height and Toshiro, his name).

The named catched and after a while some people start calling me nano, in reference for the character.

My name is Michael, which translates from the Hebrew "Who is like God?".

Very simple.

I've always been facinated by WW2, specifically the Pacific Theater. When I played Victory at Sea, I joined a forum of discussion and had no idea what to pick for a name. So, like any fanboy, I went with a ship name, only I didn't want it to be too obvious so instead of Akagi (a japanese aircraft carrier that sunk at Midway), I went with the translation: Red Castle. I got used to the sound of it and decided to keep it as my internet nickname.

My name is Michael, which translates from the Hebrew "Who is like God?".

Also worth noting that the biblical meaning is : Poor, humble.

The humble part seems adequate. ;)

Edited by Red Castle

Etymologically, that biblical meaning would stem from its literal translation, as noted above. St. Michael challenged the devil for his pride, so the name is fitting on multiple levels.

Stellar 7 was one of the first video games I got obsessive about on my C64. Except as a kid I missed the second l so now I keep misspelling it on purpose. I started using the name again when registered for the world of tanks open beta and now it is my go to gaming name.

Prior to that I have had a different internet name for every community, all the way back to Mobius, my BBS name.

hecabomb...shortened from "that's one heck of a bomb"

Spelling inspired by the fun, but unsuccessful CCG Hecatomb.

True. The meaning of the name is, like you said, a question: Who is like God? To which the answer is: noboby.

Hence the humble part of the biblical meaning.

It's my last name.

I just wanted something that would be kinda funny when people referred to me. Something that might give people a chuckle as they sit at their computers and realize that talking to or about me is mildly humorous.

"I agree with what That One Guy says," or "I really can't stand That One Guy…" Stuff like that.

Kiloden was the coolest chaos dwarf I ever played in D&D,

then it became my gamer tag for the first time in MechWarrior 3 for the PC, and my gamer tag for everything from then on. xbox live and pretty much every where I could.

it has become my alter ego, been using it for many, many years.

Yeah, why's that?

Good god, not this crap again.

Ribann, not cool. Really not cool.

And.... Another thread bites the dust....

Guys, relax. I assume he has a good reason for saying something like that, and if not, who cares? I'm over it, and I'm not going to let it derail the thread.

Please keep posting about your names.

Well,
actually I always use Dante... DarkDante... which comes from way back in the days in school.

I was fascinated with the book "Dates Inferno" and poems in general so i started to write poems... at one point a couple of friends started to call me Dante... that stuck with me ...

BUT since we are in a "flight game" i thought it might be more useful to change it for this forum to DarkPilot.

Daaaaaah!

Man On A Wire is my FFG forum name, and is based on the Garbage song by the same name.

"Rooster" is my call sign within Phoenix Squadron locally, and is what I more commonly respond to. Because I watch over our local X-Wing scene, and because I raise hens in my backyard.

Have you read the Commedia? I tried in high school and couldn't get through it, but it's become one of my favorites since taking a course on it at UCLA.

Hehe,

Well, when i refer to "Dantes Inferno" i mean the "Divine Comedy" or also called "La Commedia"....

But most people dont know the Comedia so i always use the term Dantes Inferno...

(and thanks to video games, more people know what im talking about)

Its heavy stuff but interesting...

Beside that one i also read "Convivio" which is more like a collection of Dantes Poems...
