Push the limit vs Daredevil

By Dark Curse, in X-Wing

Hi,

actually I play the following build:

Doomshuttle, 3 Tie Interceptor Avengers, Backstabber= 100 P.

Now I would like to have better Interceptors escorting the Doomshuttle. I first tought about using classic builds with Push the limit. But what about using Daredevil for a better mobility.

What do you think? Any good builds? I know that when using Daredevil I have one action less than with Push the Limit.

The problem is that Daredevil doesn't give you greater mobility over PtL. It gives you the option of either taking a 1-turn, boosting, or barrel rolling, none of which compares to the classic Boost/Roll combination PtL allows.

I'm really only a fan of daredevil on Arvel and the ramming decimator pilot whose name escapes me right now. PTL is great and the interceptors dial has a ton of green for it too.

You could try and make a case for Daredevil in combination with EI, but you'd be double-stressing yourself and there's only one pilot strong enough to handle that: Tycho.

Tycho with Daredevil and EI, the title and the refit and a second EPT is hilarious from the looks of things.

The most Interceptors you will get in with daredevil is 3 with the doomshuttle. Even at PS 4 or Six you're not going to get a lot of advantages with Daredevil. The extra mobility will not serve you well when most ships now a days will move after the Daredevil Interceptors.

Daredevil basically allows you to do a more dramatic boost with the sacrifice of getting a stress token for the same price as push the limit. If you don't have boos you can spend 3 more points to use the modification slot and pick up engine upgrade otherwise you risk doing 2 attack dice worth of damage to yourself. So for say the shuttle the daredevil is actually cost 6 points instead of 3. It might be good for the shuttle with engine upgrade as it doesn't have a turn that is not red.

Except no shuttle pilots have an EPT.

Honestly I've never found a situation which would make me want to use Daredevil.

Green squadron with daredevil is murder against academy ties, bounty hunters and other low pilot skill imperials. The Green ends up using boost or daredevil to dance out of arcs while still having a shot (often at range 1). However, anything with a higher pilot skill is going to destroy it.

whoops, I end up getting confused with decimator. My bad, I forget shuttles and Y-wings are without EPT. (Chewie has one though for some reason? I think the devs felt sorry he didn't get a medal in the movie).

Add PTL so you can Boost, Barrel Roll and Daredevil! That's crazy!

But sadly, not that usefull.

Add VI and just stay behind any Phantom.

Phantom with advanced sensors and daredevil can do some neat things...

Like blow itself up if it doesn't take Engine Upgrade.

Daredevil is actually pretty good on A-Wings. Since A-Wings lack barrel-rolls, Daredevil can easily get you out of arcs while still giving you a shot.

The big problem with Daredevil is then you have no way to modify your attack dice. I think this will be fixed when Rebel Aces comes out.

When Rebel Aces comes out, a Green Squadron Pilot w/ Predator, Daredevil, A-Wing Test Pilot & Proton Rocket will be a lot of fun.

Don't forget the engine upgrade needed for boost.

And also in this case I do not know if there is an astromech or crew that would make the DD red action a green action.
