How do I go about getting replacement base pilot inserts?

By ForceSensitive, in X-Wing

I was at Gen-Con for Nationals I was setting up a demo game for a kid that was curious about the game and happened to be hanging around the tourney area asking questions while his family was playing that rock-paper-scissors thing. To set it up, I got out a stack of the pilot tiles and fumbled them all over the floor, picked them up, checked around that I got them all, gave him the demo and chatted a bit, said good-byes, packed up and left. Get home and organize the tourney list back into the collection and realize "OH CRAP!...I accidentally picked up my third round opponents A-wing dial! He dropped that round, CRAP he said he just moved to Florida, I live in Ohio! I have no way of contacting him!" Ironically, we knew each other vaguely from an FLGS that we both frequented before he moved which was incredibly, astoundingly, amazingly fortunate. And said store had his number, also luckier than hell, so after a bit of texting and a trip to the post office we got that back to him safe and sound. Phew. Fantastic.

That was the opening scroll for Ep. 1 of this little saga...

Episode 2:

THE SEARCH FOR KYLE KATARN

(AND THAT OTHER GUY)

After his well fought defeat at the Battle of Con-Jin, our hero returns to

his home base to re-organize his collection once more. Searching through

the stack of pilot tiles he realizes that he is missing his Kyle Katarn/Rebel Operative tile!

He has desperately sent out a plea for guidance to the rest of the Rebel Alliance

in search of aid...

**Pan down to a shot of the Moldy Crow adrift in space over a distant planet. Camera zooms into the cock pit where two empty seats are lit only by the dim emergency lights.**

Which brings us to our question: How can I get a replacement? All I have now is a Jan Ors/Roark Garnet tile. I read the replacement policy of FFG and they said they wouldn't replace lost parts on there soooo...How is do?

Contact FFG's customer service. They've been known to replace lost dials, I could see them replacing lost pilot bases. Worst case scenario, they just say no so it's worth a shot. If they don't, you're probably stuck with the painful option of buying another HWK.

Well stupidly I only have one right now and in epic there's a funny list with two escorting the CR-90, plus Scum And Villainy are coming out so that's not too bad if I have to buy one. If I had lost the Jan/Roark one that wouldn't be too upsetting but I lost the generic one. Also stupidly another guy in our group had bought a second kit as a replacement model (his broke) but didn't keep the cardboard punch-outs *facepalm*

Borrow someone elses, then use a copier to make a printout of the base pilot tile then tape/paste onto a tile you have little/no need for.

or you could buy another HWK and use the previous model for some DIYs

Had crossed my mind. Again S+V is coming out and all sooooo...At some point I think it's safe to say that a second hawk will happen.

Also thought of the copy machine cover up but I'm a completionist with this collection and I don't think I want to sacrifice any of my other tiles. :/

I sent a request in today so we'll see what they say.
