A little too good?

By Lord Ashram, in X-Wing

No idea what I am facing... Is this squad a little too elite?

Also, I can go a few over 100... Is there something here really missing? Maybe PTL on the a wing?

Thanks!

Wedge Antilles / X-Wing

Predator

R2 Astromech

Jake Farrell / A-Wing

Chardaan Refit

Stealth Device

Keyan Farlander / B-Wing

Push the Limit

Advanced Sensors

Heavy Laser Cannon

A-Wing needs something to give it a little more teeth. I'd think about Outmaneuver before PTL since Jake already gets lots of action, but PTL is certainly always a good choice.

Other than that, this looks solid enough. You'll have trouble versus swarms, but Keyan should be able to toast Falcons. Phantoms may also be difficult, but I bet Jake will abe able to do good things about them.

I'd consider the R2 on Wedge as a luxury item that could be done away with.

Instead of the Stealth Device I wonder if adding VI and PtL to Jake wouldn't be the way to go. This gets him up to PS 9 and hopefully acting AFTER those named Phantoms and going this late would help his arc-dodging potential provided he doesn't get blocked in.

Keyan is a beast but he's an expensive beast. As much as we love the HLC I wonder if you aren't better off getting rid of that and maybe adding an Engine Upgrade. EU + PtL + Advanced Sensors on a B-Wing give you insane mobility options and as long as you are planning to shoot when you're done you don't even need to have a green maneuver dialed in to dump the stress so you can do it all over again. This alteration still leaves you with three points which could be an Ion Cannon, torpedo, a modification somewhere, or maybe R7-T1 for Wedge giving him some boosting potential as well.

I like it, but I really think Keyan is too expensive and has a huge bullseye on his head with that point distribution.

How about:

Wes Janson (29)
Veteran Instincts (1)
R3-A2 (2)
Keyan Farlander (29)
Opportunist (4)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Jake Farrell (24)
Push the Limit (3)
Chardaan Refit (-2)
Outmaneuver (3)
A-Wing Test Pilot (0)
Total: 100
Wes outshoots Phantoms, stresses it to prevent decloak and strips token for Keyan's big hit 5 dice attack.

How does this list do against falcon lists? I feel like it's at a disadvantage... Outmaneuver helps the A from being useless though. Though he will probably use c3po for Wes's attack.

Would 2 Zs be better than jake? I think maybe.

Just so folks know, went basically with that list, and got hammered by a kitted out Whisper and three Black TIES with predator and hull upgrades. Whisper had two range one attacks that were five hits and crits, one Wedge and one on the B Wing. I got shredded:)

My two cents:

First I assume you bought the aces at gen con, and if that is the case I hate you a little bit.

I don't think you want the stealth device on jake, not because I don't think it will fail to keep him alive, but because he is the first of these three ships you want to die. Or at least the ship you want people to shoo at.

Wedge and Kenyan have such big bulls eyes on them do you really want to discourage your opponent from shooting at you lowest attack ship?

The other two ships are monsters and if you can keep them alive and shooting for a couple of rounds they are going to tear your opponent apart. For that reason I would find a way to include Biggs with these two monsters.

Which list? The one at the top of the page?

Not sure I'm surprised if it was shredded by Whisper. Arc dodging a high PS Phantom or getting it in your sights is going to be challenging which is part of the reason for the suggestions I had made.
