Sundays Game

By jackyboy, in Talisman

I've just started a new job which is full time, Monday-Friday 9-5. Lovely. So come the weekend what better way to spend your sunday than in Church....the Church of Talisman!!! :)

There was 4 of us, 2 friends who play semi regular and a newbie to the table. We were playing Base set, I was the Monk, others were Prothetess, Assasin and the Troll. It was fairly balanced with objects and Spells but after about an hour the Troll steamed into a Strength lead, he had the Cross which saved him from Crafty creatures and seemed unstoppable. He smahed his way through the portal of power with Strength 12 and breezed through the Crypt. Having 6 lives on Dice with Death I made it very clear how unlucky but how amazingly funny it would be if he lost all of his lives here..... ....... .... ...... ;) ......

..... So!!! I made sure that his girlfriend threw the dice for death each turn, and each turn she beat him. With 2 lives left we didn't want her luck to run out so my other friend took a throw of the dice... death once again beat the Troll! With only 1 life left and having ran an extremely satisfying mocking of the Troll I felt it only fitting that I threw the last dice... With everyone silent and time actually going in slow motion, I rolled the dice. In a blur I can barely remember being able to see, my vision lost in a frenzy of angst and absolute pleasure. The dice landed and the numbers I can not recall, BUT.... death won again! Bammmm!!!!!!! Troll killed by dice with death 6 times in a row! :D  :D The room exploded with an eruption of cheers, laughter and even some comical tears!!!! My friend who's first go it was almost wet himself with laughter and by the end of the game, which he won by the way! (phhhhaaah! begginers luck! ;) ) said that he absolutely loved the game!

For me this is one of the biggest and best reasons I play Talisman, me and some friends spent an afternoon talking, having fun and playing an interesting game... You DO NOT get this kind of satisfaction and fun from video games.... not even Digital Talisman ;)
