Bad release date?

From a business standpoint, why release the game Q1 or Q2 of 2015, and not for Christmas of 2014? Seems like they are loosing the biggest market for sales.

I am not really complaining, but I would like to see the game released because I am a fan of the games. I like the company and think a good season advertising would benefit them.

Probably because the game wont be ready until then. There's probably a lot of behind the scenes stuff dealing with licencor approval and all that we don't know about. Also, someone in the consolidated rules section (I think) mentioned that the game was still in beta testing mode. While I'd like the game to come out tomorrow, I'd rather it come out when it's got all its bugs worked out.

Because a lot of ppl just give money for gifts. Most of my extended family does this.By releasing it right after it will allow FFG to control the hype and get your attention all over again. If they release it before you might forget it in the holiday shuffle or have more time to think about it and decide to purchase something else and put this product off.

TL;DR- Marketing.

To prevent Armada running against Wave 6 of X-Wing with the crowd that has both an interest in X-Wing and Armada...

I'm pretty sure FFG Q1 is around March to May. I could be wrong. Most companies are referring to their fiscal calendar.

They don't use fiscal calendars on their release windows. So, if it says Q1, it means Jan-Mar.

It probably isn't releasing before Christmas because they don't think they can get it here in time. FFG hasn't had much luck with getting miniatures released in time for Christmas in the past (see Wave 2 and Imperial Aces for X-wing).

FFG Q1 means anywhere from January 1 to March 31. With Easter being on April 5 in 2015, and with it being a huge gift giving occasion in some parts of the world (including parts of Canada and the USA), a March release would be well targeted to take advantage of that. Or maybe Valentines Day for our long suffering partners... :)

I was hoping for Christmas too, but a Valentine's Armada gift would be EPIC. Of course my wife would probably keep the VSD, :( .

You don't want an Attack Wing do you? Let FFG have time to work with it and iron out the kinks :) We've got a while. I'd rather have a polished game than something rushed.

I'm fine with it not being here for Christmas. But I'd expect it to be here early next year.
