Squad Feedback

By mikessin, in X-Wing

long time lurker, first time poster...or maybe 2nd post anyway.... i have all the expansions to a complesionist exstent (100+ pts of each ship, but only one transport and 3 HWKS..lol) i have nothing from the CR90 onward (no z95, phantom, ewing, defender).

how do y'all think this would fare in a game...my buddy also only has access to the ships i do.

we only play house games for fun at the moment so there is no "meta" to worry about.

we have a bunch of games under out belt so we are not complete and utter noobs....just morons some times lol

Going Dutch:

Dutch Vander (23+10) = 33

Proton Torpedos (4)

Blaster Turret (4)

R5-K6 (2)

Luke Skywalker (28 + 6) = 34

Squad Leader (2)

R2-D2 (4)

Kyle Katharn (21 + 11) = 32

Determination (1)

Blaster Turrer (4)

Recon Specialliet (3)

Moldy Crow (3)

99 Points

i use bwings all the time when i play rebels, hence the ywing.

The i believe the list is pretty simple, place asteroids in such a manner to hopefully force the enemy into them, slow and steady....no one should want for focus or TL when the poop hits the rotating air circulation device.

please, be as harsh as you can in grading me, enuendo and tolling is welcome, and often incouraged

One comment right off the bat, I would ditch the Blaster Turret from Dutch because it eats the Focus Token just to fire the thing, then you are left with just a Target Lock. Kyle can only pass out one Focus Token per turn, so he can't give everybody one each turn. I would just go with the Ion Turret.

I understand what you are trying to do with all of the Action/token passing, but that requires everyone to be near each other ALL the time. Sooner or later somebody will get out of formation or die and the squad structure kind of falls apart. I would make Luke a little more independent because he can lone wolf pretty well.

i hadnt really though of luke lone wolfing, at least not out of range 2, but there is a chance he gets pulled away, any better? i'd definatly run the xwing within r3 of the hawk, but i guess that goes without saying

The resaon i put the blaster turret on dutch was for red dice. after the torps are away i'd like him to have some was to thow more red dice.i know this list lack firepower but i wanted to use ships i almost never use, and somehitng to surprise my oppenet net time i play him.

remember be mean, be cruel, sling some sex-wing my way....or just inspire me

I'm confused...isn't that the same list?

I've got to agree with Darth Chuck. If Kyle dies, Vander can no longer use TL as an action if he wants to use his blaster turret, so he can't use his pilot ability nor R5-K6.

Both Dutch and Luke really want Kyle's focus every turn and so one of them is gonna go wanting.

And Blaster Turret is by far the worse turret for Kyle. I'm not sure why people seem to think it synergizes with Kyle but it doesn't. It competes with his pilot ability. Sure, Rec Spec and Moldy Crow can generate a healthy stockpile of tokens, but that build guarantees you're using at least 2 per turn--which is the fastest you can generate them. If you ever get blocked, or need to modify attack or defense dice with Kyle, then you're going to run out pretty quickly.

If you swap Luke for Garven, and put an ITC on Kyle you'd have a lot more synergy going. Garven can help power up the Crow, or throw a focus Dutch's way for the blaster turret.

Dutch, Garven, Kyle is a tried and tested list.

They are all PS6, so that's one hassle out of the way.

This gives you 4 points to tinker with:

Kyle Katarn (21)
Ion Cannon Turret (5)
Recon Specialist (3)
Moldy Crow (3)
"Dutch" Vander (23)
Ion Cannon Turret (5)
Proton Torpedoes (4)
R2 Astromech (1)
Garven Dreis (26)
Proton Torpedoes (4)
R2 Astromech (1)
Total: 96
