The alternative list I would run if not this one is probably a Rebel XXBB squad.

Why not drop to academies and give Howlrunner a Stealth Device? Keeping her near the Academies shouldn't be too much trouble and just don't plan on using her ability on Whisper.
I find whisper gets to range 1 easier than range 2 so tactician may not work out.
Dropping your O.S.'s to A.P.'s would allow you to block with your ties and do action denial. I ran into that problem at a tournament and it helped me learn a good lesson. If you can move first, you can deny actions, and that makes your opponents dice become unreliable.
I dropped to Academy Ties and added Stealth device to Howlrunner. Only played one match against a thrown together list but it dominated. I only lost one ship. The Phantom two shotted Luke with R2D2.
I am unsure about the Tactician at this point. Saboteur might work as well, or Mercenary Pilot.

Edited by jkokuraIf you drop an obsidian pilot for an academy pilot instead, then you could swap out tactician for Recon Specialist or Navigator. Both of which would give you fairly good returns in both improving your survivability and damage output (RS for the extra focus to use defensively, Navigator because you can adjust your move to avoid bumping, arc dodging, or when safe pushing to a closer range band.
I think I might try that if I get a chance next time round, and leave Howl without the Stealth Device. In this round, Howl having SD saved him once early on, but I can see how having either Nav or RS would be preferable on Whisper.
