Seriously though, today's tourney was 60-75% Falcons with support Z's or X's. One answer to a Falcon list is another Falcon list but I want to fly Imperials. What do the boards say the Empire's answer is?

(I'm running 4 Obsidian blocking Ties and a Firespray with HLC and Gunner.)

I have all ships and cards available.

Even a duel YT list, bumrushing with 7-8 TIEs will do it. Yes the turret hits like a truck, but each YT can only eat one TIE at a time, so numbers favor you.

I'm going to try this in my next matches:

Fel - PTL, TC

Vessery - VI, HLC

OGP - Vader

Depends. Against PS11, probably not. Against Gunner, that particular Phantom setup can turtle, and may be able to withstand the fire from multiple gunner shots.

Yeah, but that list is kind of boring, at least for a certain type of imperial player. If I wanted to joust, I'd play rebels.

Theirs Jonus and Bombers with Cluster missiles. The initial strike will devastate any low agility ships (so, Falcons, B-Wings, Y-Wings, most of the current meta) leaving you some pretty tanky ships that with careful flying should be able to defeat anything that is left.

Or you could go Interceptors/Phantoms backed by 2 HLC Lambdas (56 pts). The Lambdas provide artillery support while the Interceptors/Phantom dash around. It's based on dealing a lot of damage per hit, as Falcons can't really handle heavy attacks.

You could go with a Bounty Hunter list, one of the variations you've doubtlessly seen on here, while effective, I don't really find it that fun. The rear firing arc takes the fun out of flying for me.

Personally, I'd play some low pilot skill interceptors and a bomber with proton bombs. You know going in that you have to out think your opponents instead of playing re-actively, which negates the need for push the limit. You use the 4 attacks of 3 and the 1 attack of 2 to quickly eat away the falcon's health, (even with C3PO and Lando, it goes quick), and the proton bomb to crit whatever's trying to take you out. Once you get rid of the falcon the rest should be easy.

Any of these builds will really allow you to handle falcons easily. Sure they beat a standard 3 Interceptor list easily, or even a Phantom with a mini-swarm, but with a couple of dangerous high-attack ships, Falcons are still beatable, even with all of their advantageous.

I have found keeping the Falcon stressed and at a distance helps.

Outrider definitely changes things, but I'm not convinced it is the be all end all.

There are many ways to skin a Falcon.....

Anyhow. Look at the Gencon field. I would venture to say it was at least 50% Falcon builds. There were 4 Imp Builds in the top 9 and I think that #10 Pasqual Was running a Bomber Swarm which would make 5 of the top 10 that were imp builds which had to take down a number of Falcons on their way to a top 10 finish. These are 4 very different builds and even thought Rick and Tylers builds look similar I assure you they fly differently.

Keep in mind that just flying one of these builds does not mean that you will drop falcons. You must still use sound strategies and execute correctly to get the win.

I love the falcon but I still think its too good sometimes. Nothing is unbeatable but there is a reason falcons are everywhere right now. And its not solely because of the phantom.

Super falcon is a force in any list and vs any list. Yes, its expensive but its positives far outweigh that negative.

I fully expect the next wave to bring the falcon/turret hurt.

This is a list I am going to run Monday night and I think it can be good against a Fat Han/Chewie list.

Vader: Expose, Stealth Device: 36 pts (Outmaneuver is probably better here, but I don't have the card yet)

Jonus: Underwear: 22 pts

2 x Scimitar Squad Pilots: Assault Missiles: 21 pts each

Total: 100 pts

If the Fat Han/Chewie is supported by a Z mini swarm, fire the missiles at Han and he can evade 2 hits, at most, from each missile. With Jonus around, each missile will do an average of 3 hits (.5*4 + .5*2) causing splash damage from his big, fat base. If both missiles hit, that is a lot of Z's without shields for Vader to eat up. The Bombers are tough enough to take hits before delivering their ordinance, then they can gang up on ships. If you take Outmaneuver, 3PO can suck it because Han/Chewie has no evade dice to roll if you are in his baffles.

I feel you OP, another tournament, another majority of games against falcons at the top tables (i faced basically every falcon list). It is boring as ******* ****, but it is solid, perfect with the tournament scoring system (your falcon is at 2 Hit points, don't worry, you get to win with 60 points even if it was a close game), and easy enough to use, so it is an obvious choice for players.

What is sad is when you try to propose things like messing with the scoring system, which is obviously flawed, to make it less flawed, you will get people telling you how it would be too complicated, how unneeded it is, it does nothing... etc etc, at these forums. We will probably change it for our tournaments.
