Holocron of Darth Phobos

By Danudet, in General Discussion

For the finale in an upcoming game, I was thinking about giving the crew the Holocron of Darth Phobos, as a farther temptation. So far I stated it out as follows. Not sure if I OP'd it a bit or not.

The Holocron grants Darth Phobos as the gatekeeper with 3 ranks in all knowledge skills.

Grants the Terrify Talent

Grants a one time award of 15 XP towards the Misdirect Force tree.

Activating it for the first time requires a Hard Lore check. Then at least 1 DS pip on a Force die each time they activate it after.

3 free ranks in all knowledge skills is quite potent. Were it me, I would do no more than 1. Possibly just grant all knowledge skills as career skills then - turn and apologize to your Cerean PCs.

Where does the Force Die come in to activate it? If you want them to spend a resource to activate it, I suggest having them flip a destiny point to activate it and maybe eat some conflict (or straight up lose morality). They have to corrupt their destiny in order to gain the secret knowledge of the Sith.

The rest looks pretty good.

The point behind the Force die was that they would have to pour DS energy into the Holocron to open it, and thereby gaining a point of Conflict, and flipping a Destiny to use the DS pip on the die. The knowledge ranks are there for Assist purposes. Had a question about that. Once the characters reach a score of 3 or more in the knowledge skills, would the Holocron then just add a Boost die as in an unskilled assist, or would it be just be they could choose theirs or the Holocron's?

Depends on if you give the holocron Characteristics or not. If the Characteristic is higher you could instead reverse it and use the player's skill ranks with the assist.

Also, as long as they're getting conflict, I don't think anything you're doing is too broken.
