I would like to see double LS get cut down to only a single blade even after that double triumph. We see this in the movies and CW cartoons often (Maul, Ventress, Opress) and it would be nice to replicate that in the game.
Edited by ThebearisdrivingCan you Sunder another character's lightsaber with a lightsaber?

This has been on my mind quite a bit. I could wave this with some GM fiat, but it would be cool to have this actually appear in the rules.

Then just do it. It's a Narrative system for a reason.

it's not just that I want to do it. as GM you always can. but it'd be nice to have this be a rule, as it happens often enough.

Does it?
It happens what twice in the Prequels, never in the Original Holy Trilogy, and I think I remember twice in the Clone Wars (though I could be totally wrong there).
So out of hundreds of Lightsaber fights, we see maybe 4 get damaged.
Out of how many light saber fights with a double saber in them. If you're going to divide pie, make sure it's the right pie.
So by this logic, it happens in 100% of the LS fights in the movies that involve a double saber (actually 50%, since maul and quigon fight in the desert).
I haven't kept a documented list of this in the clone wars... but hey, maybe I should.

However, my whole point was this: It's not particularly common that Lightsabers get Sundered. Heck, Luke's gets shot out of his hand in Return (sail barge fight) and it's still working fine (as far as we can tell). It wasn't until the Prequels that Lightsabers start getting chopped up all over the place.
Now, I would be fine with revoking Sunder Immunity from Doublebladed Sabers, without the caveat that it still left a working single Saber (which would then become unSunderable).
Edited by evileeyoreI should clarify: I don't think it should be any easier to sunder/double triumph a double saber. I think it should actually be more difficult.
From your post, i just thought I would clarify that point.

Gotcha.
So your thinking what, 3 Triumph?
Or something like this post I dropped in the Beta Thread?
EDIT: Basically in my group's game we didn't have 2T auto destroy equipment, it just damaged it and made it "inoperable" for the fight (though it could be gotten working again with a Skill check).
Edited by evileeyoreI was actually thinking something more simple. "When a double Lightsaber would normally be destroyed by (2 triumph effect) it instead is cut in half and is usable now only as a standard lightsaber."
One sentence, in the weapon description, and that perfectly captures what happens in Phantom menace.

Sure.
Not sure it needs to be in the rules, but okay. To me that's just a part of Narration.
but there's a game distinction between a double LS and a singe LS. So it's not "just" a narrative thing.
it's not the difference between a dc-15 and a dc-18 (or whatever) blaster pistol. It's the loss of the linked trait, and the unweildly trait. it's a change to the costs of upgrades. It's more than just a narrative aspect. Hence why a rule would standardize this.
Truthfully, this is about as non-critical as it gets in importance to the beta.

Okay, I can see that. But then there is also nothing in the rules about how much damage is applied* to a piece of Equipment (weapon, armor, toolset, droid, starship, etc) that comes from 2 Triumph (or 1 Despair).
It's a matter of GM preference.
(Which is why my GM made a houserule on the spot with the Players input, so going forward we'd all be on the same page rules wise).
* Or rather there are only two things: Sunder which is pretty explicit and rolling a Despair on an an attack** which is very loosely defined, both (can) cause damage. 2 Triumph out right destroys a piece of equipment.
** Also in what crazed world would "Running out of Ammo" equal the severity of "Weapon Damaged"?

LOL, as if "official rules" will ever stop people from debating them.
The F&D update has put an end to this issue...lightsabers are un-sunderable.
And a future update could just as easily alter or remove things in a previous update. The idea of the beta process is to collaboratively work and give feedback to help the developers decide on what's published. If everyone thinks something needs to be changed, it'll still be up to FFG, but chances are, it'll get altered into something that everyone can better agree on, and let outliers on the subject houserule as they need to.
