Hi there,
I know that Abnett in particular writes about all different types of food in his books about 40k - is there a comprehensive list anywhere? What about drink there is Amsec and Scara what else?
Cheers, Hal

The above was a really cool discussion on food and drink in the Imperium. Hope it helps
Lots and lots of nutrients and stuff ground into Paste, put into tubes (Like tooth-paste) and given to the workers to eat

How does it taste?
It varies from person to person

Now there's a film i'm quite suprised Hasn't been remade.
I compiled a list of drink references in the Eisenhorn novels once:
Ale - Seems to be preferred to Beer or Lager
Amasec - Spirits Gathalamor is noted for vintage - aged in burwood barrels. Peaty taste.
Caffeine - Generally preferred to 'coffee'. Hesperine caffeine is good.
Claret - Gudrun produces high quality.
Glayva - Cadian spirits. Vodka equivalent?
Joiliq - Spirits
Mead
Olicet tea - Variety of Tea (which is generically referred to as 'leaf infusions')
Pasha - Spirits
Tunderey clear-grain - Spirits
Wines - Messina is noted for its wines, as is Sameter

Pst, Ale is Beer and Lager is Beer -there is no beer Beer. They are just the end product of deferent brewing methods both of which produce beer (one a lager and one an ale) ;-)
And now back to your regularly scheduled thread.
I'm not making any points here about the preferences of Scarus-sector drinkers for one or the other, simply noting the terminology Abnett prefers to use. In the Eisenhorn novels he prefers 'Ale' as a catchall term for beer-type drinks rather than the near equivalent 'beer' or 'lager'. But thank you, my knowledge of brewing is not encyclopedic...
