As you folks know we are new to XW and would like to know where to find new player guides.

I have been reading this forum and BGG but most posts are over our heads at this point, I think we may have got ahead of our selves.

I should have known better than to let my excitement cause me to skip ahead, we need a good starting point.

1)Guides to learning the game.

2)Guides to ship buying and selection.

This site is pretty useful but they won't sticky stuff. Orishii has a great article about movements on this site. Sable griffon has a flight school post. Forum search "take me to bootcamp" for one player scenarios by me to help you get better at flying. For list theory I've been advocating for "Developing List:_______" threads with semi uniform format where you discuss what each piece does, why it works, good vs. and poor match ups with discussion following. Not all of them do this but it's worth a look.

I know I am going to get flamed for this but it needs to be said; honestly, not this site. While there is some good threads such as the 'Earn Your Wings' thread, most of these gems are buried under mounds of personal fighting, childish squabbling, and downright whininess. The forum itself is fine if you are already in to the game, because you can get discussion no bother, but if you are purely looking to learn, I would feel this site would just make you think that many X-Wing players are immature and sometimes total jerks to each other. As this isn't the case, really.

We need a lot more moderation here, more sub forums, and the ability to get good threads stickied.
