target lock storage tip

By bmwrider, in X-Wing

If you don't like looking for matched pairs consider leaving them paired up in a stack with a thin rubber band.

Just slip a pair or so out when needed and then back in order under the RB and

Your good to go.

May not work for everyone but it does make set up faster and easier.

I hope it helps someone.

Trying to come up with a way to do the same with ship number tokens.

Both those ideas are genius! The way I've been doing it is to line them up, in order, in one of the small slots of my foam trays. Works pretty well, though the TL tokens stick up a bit.

I can confirm that the tokens fit perfectly in both of those, been using them for about a year now. In the big blue one for Target Lock, there are even 2 sections so you can put matching tokens.

Also, the blue ones come in double packs for $15, or single (linked above) for $10.

I like the pill box idea, I was just going for something small for now.

I am still using 2 core boxes for storage and need to save room, that will change when I am done devoting all my money to ships and ready to buy other stuff.

Cunning idea. I like it. Hate digging around for matching locks.

you can get the little black hairband rubber bands from any general store (walmart, target, etc.) at rate of about 100 for 3 or less dollars, and just rubberband pairs of target locks together. Alternatively, if you want colored rubber bands, the ones that come in the rubber band jewelry kits sole everywhere work excellently as well.

I just have my target lock tokens with my ship numbers. The A/B tokens are with 1, the C/D tokens with 2, etc.

I put matching sets of target lock tokens in each bin with my ships.

I have enough for a complete double set of Target Locks from A to X, so I spray-painted the back side of each set black so there's no confusing letters, and keep them banded together in a compartment in my Plano tray. I also have enough number tokens for a full set of both black and white and keep them banded together in the triple sets. One of these days I'll get around to painting the back sides of them as well.

Well then I guess that makes my idea a ghetto one haha. I find 4 pairs and place them in the little bags that come with the ships. I put 2 bags (8 pairs total) in my case. Then when you setup you just pull a bag out and stack the pairs next to your setup area. Takes all but 10 seconds pair them up since there is only 4 pairs.

I do the last two ideas combined. Keep them in little sets of four with one side blacked out so they are easier to match up. I also recently got a set of the tiny target locks from Applied Perspective--not the greatest visual piece, but I love the small profile and the reduction of clutter, so they are a definite win in my book!

I attach velcro to the back of matching TL tokens

A buddy of mine has 2 pairs of every TL, so he just glued them back-to-back. No confusion that way. A blue X is a blue X, a red is a red, etc. They will also never accidentally get grabbed by an opponent either.

I've been pairing them up in the small ziplocs that come with the expansions.. works just fine.. grab a few and you're good

I just rubber-band pairs together, and don't keep so many around that the letters duplicate.

I do like this suggestion:

I've glued my focus and evade tokens together, so that I just turn it to the side that I want to display. It cuts down on the number of individual pieces in my token back.

Furthermore, I've marked the edges of my tokens with a pink highlighter. There are folks who use black, or red, or blue, but nobody is man enough to do hot pink in my area. :D

(My bases are painted black though. The other day at the tournament, I even hummed the Rolling Stones tune that went along with my bases. Okay... I'm blathering now. I'll stop.)

I got me a set of the T/Ls from CorSec.

They look so good sitting on their own stands.

Pretty easy to tell them apart.

A bloody great song that! Easily one of my all time favourites.

Most of the kids these days have no clue what good music sounds like.

Wait, so your cardboard tokens are no longer double sided? I really like that idea! Sometimes I want to use "A" and "B" on the same squad, but I only have one of each token letter out (1 A/B, 1 C/D, etc.) to conserve space. I may have to look into this more.
