An Epic Galactic Battle

By BonusJoe, in X-Wing

An Epic Galactic Battle. Brave fighter pilots execute a daring hit and run mission on a Capital Gunship, its accompanying Cargo Transport, and their small escort. The defense is fierce. While clearly outgunned, the pilots skill and tenacity ultimately leads them to victory.

The classic Star Wars scenario. Only it isn't. This isn't Rebel heroes desperately raiding an Imperial convoy to sustain their existence. It's unsupported Imperial fighters attacking a diplomatic transport and unarmed large freighter. Rather than A-wings taking out shield generators and X-wings firing proton torpedoes, it's Ties, Bombers, and Interceptors buzzing capital ships in a desolate region of space.

As the Corellian Corvette's reactor erupts a cheer is heard throughout the coms. The famed Howlrunner commends Captain Jonus for his wing's devastating attack run. As they have no hyperdrive, the Tie Fighters, Bombers, and Interceptors regroup and await pickup. Only... it never comes. Hours go by and no Imperial capital ship arrives. One by one the life support systems on the pilots' suits fail. Carnor Jax succumbs first, refusing to believe a member of the Emperor's own Royal Guard would be doomed to such a fate. Next goes Mauler Mithel, once a proud wingman to Lord Vader but now sitting tragically in his own tomb. The final pilot alive, the great hero Baron Soontir Fel, wonders with his last breathe:

"Fantasy Flight Games, why have you forsaken me....."

people really need to chill about imperial huges. JUST BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T HAPPEN AT GENCON DOESN'T MEAN THEY AREN'T GONNA HAPPEN. Patience is a virtue guys, use it. There could be any number of reasons why they didn't want to reveal it.

Those imps forgot THE rule:

"Never fly so far from your carrier that you cannot get back".

I don't like black text.

It was meant as a satire ;) I recommend your caps lock takes your own advice about chilling...

Sorry, no offense intended, however people are taking this way to seriously, and the if it didn't happen at GenCon it ain't gonna happen attitude is driving me nuts.

Addressing the part about impatience for Imperial Huge ships,
try listening to the official answer:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnrlBSvzxuU#t=1598

Corrected the start time, some one said 52 minutes, actually 26 min in.

...and that's the general X-wing announcements, turns out

the specific Q&A question on it is at the 61 minute mark.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnrlBSvzxuU#t=3663

Some points that the two video segments serve to clear up:

• Armada will not interfear with X-wing Huge ships for the Empire, it is a 100% sure thing,
• FFG has products locked in for production in general across its lines 18 months ahead of time
• They will make every effort to make ships from the Star Wars Rebel cartoon that are worth doing
• Concerning the IP licence, FFG and Disney have a good relationship, but there are areas/ideas Disney will not discuss.

I kinda like your version better, but people just keep refusing to hear the simple answer.
