Falcons are really easy to destroy

By Jobu, in X-Wing

That proves that they take a lot of hits to kill, it doesn't prove that dealing those hits is not easy. I'm not saying it is easy, merely that it could be, regardless of their HP. Imagine a ship with 0 green, 0 red, a dial of nothing but red banks and white forwards and costing 80 pts - you surely can't deny that that would be easy to kill?

Well; my point is kinda that it is not always that easy to score that many hits.

It seems we have a different definition of easy.

Sure it is easy to score a hit on a zero/low defense ship. But it takes so bloody many of em!

And all the while the darn ship + escorts (the other half of the list) keeps shooting back too! :)

That is why in my definition it is not easy to kill the Falcon. It has lots of hull and a good number of shields.

Combined it makes it tough to kill. Which in itself is not a bad thing. You pay a good chunk of points for that.

But it sure is not 'easy' in my book.

4 phantoms do the trick

Just to throw this out there, a squad that can poop on Falcons and Phantoms:

Blue Squadron Pilot w/ FCS, HLC & Flechette Torps (x3)

Or if you're worried about Predator:

Dagger Squadron Pilot w/ FCS & HLC.

They'll pretty consistently roll 4 hits. Even with C-3PO they have a good chance of killing a Falcon in two rounds.

For Phantoms it's all about staggering your formation to cover all approaches. Good luck dodging out of range 3 and an HLC could care less about 4 defense dice.

Funny I tore something like this already couple weeks ago on vassal with echo and a mini swarm.

Those bwing can die faster than a Phantom

That doesn't say anything about anything, because pilot skill obviously comes into play.

Echo w/ mini swarm can potentially kill 1 B-Wing a turn at best. 3 B-Wings can potentially kill Echo in 1 turn. If played well, at least 1 B-Wing should always have a shot at Echo whenever Echo is in range.

But it is a hard to pinpoint echo.

Whisper imo is easier to deal with, and having four dice with focus is still good odds

It's certainly easier to score hits on a large-based 1 evade dice ship than it is on a 3 or 4 evade dice small based ship which can also arc dodge as standard, yet you appear to consider TIE Fighters "easy to kill". How bizarre.

The solution, as always, remains exactly the same: less crying, more shooting.

Agree w/op. Take any 4 ships at random and fly in a predominately falcon tourney for easy wins.

Inflammatory: likely to flame or easily combustible. Irritating.

I think most post from earlier in this thread fall under those categories...

I think that's the wrong definition - that's the one for material objects, not pieces of speech or writing. My dictionary has it as "arousing or intending to arouse angry or violent feelings". So I suppose things can be unintentionally inflammatory or intentionally so. Clearly the topic was at least the latter, but we don't know it was the former. I dunno, I reckon people are just wound up cos they're fed up fighting the same squads and not being able to fly whatever ships they like best because they feel compelled to choose a squad that will counter a particular build, and no-one'so really trying to annoy each other. Well, not literally no-one.

I agree, pilot skill does come into play.

Pilot skill becomes irrelevant the deeper you get into the metagame. It doesn't matter if they shoot first if they can't shoot your phantom before their 1 or 2 high PS ships are dead.

PS matters more now than ever!

Cloaking phantoms

To VI or not to VI

PS swarms

3 talas with YT

Predator (flight instructor too)

Phantoms and VI might be the top reason but all the others are relevant too especially since you'll often need to consider multiple PS implications when building.

How odd. You have no argument and resort to a personal attack; "less crying", more shooting.

You even made a sig out of that.

Just a question; you really feel that people do not notice your lack of arguments?

He was actually talking about player skill, not the literal "Pilot Skill."

SOOOOOOOO basically this thread is "Time to ban C-3PO" part 2?

Actually, people keep telling you to quit crying because all you do is whine about (literally) EVERYTHING THAT COUNTERS SOMETHING YOU AND ONLY YOU WANT TO DO.

ALL YOU DO IS CRY. How do you stay hydrated?

It is very bad to steal Jobu's rum.

Sorry, couldn't help myself after seeing the OP's name.

OMG T-shirts! Wow!

My reply:

There is only one person making it his personal quest to 'prove me wrong'.

And then there is your account. Just happened to be created around that same time.

Could be coincidence of course. but given that said person even made a sig with my name in it?

Now some pointers for you;

1) Do not shout (use capitals) it does not make you right. It only makes people think you are younger than the required minimum age for most sites.

2) If you claim something the burden of proof is on you. So if you claim someone is 'crying' (which is rather immature to begin with; I suggest you try a different choice of words. But up to you of course) you should explain why you think that way. Use quotes for that.

And I dare you to prove it in this case. I double dare you. :)

Honestly it's amazing how heated people get regarding this game. In some ways it's great because it shows true passion from the fans, but I think people often forget that everyone has a different experience. One match will not be the same outcome as another, there are many variables, and people often take a "well I did it this way so everyone else can do it this way, or I did it this way and lost, so nobody else could do it that way." The biggest problem I think though is that it's sometimes hard to interpret what people are really saying behind their keyboard, rather than saying something in person. For example the OP, I didn't take his/her original statement as arrogant or anything, I think they saw the big blow up in the C3PO forum (which really seems to be the anti falcon forum) and they were trying to make a statement that it is possible. Things blew up from there. I also feel like elkerlyc got a bad rap from there, I think he was trying to not necessarily say that Falcons are the hardest thing to destroy, but they require a LOT more shots on target than other ships do, honestly it seemed like that was the message he was trying to get across (correct me if I'm wrong elkerlyc) but they obviously do have some drawbacks to their ridiculous health, such as they get one shot per turn and so forth. But people are very passionate about things they love and sometimes both sides can get a bit extreme. I don't really know where I'm going with this, but I guess I'd like to say that regardless of everyone's opinions on the game, we all share one thing, which is a huge love for the game, so that's a big thing in common. We should try and respect one another a bit more, maybe try and see where people are coming from (on BOTH sides) and try to meet somewhere in the middle... sorry had to rant there a bit

Paragraphs, man! Paragraphs!

Paragraphs are overrated! hahaha

Dat enter key, doe.

This is one way of forum typing that annoys me.

Every line becomes it's own paragraph, like that Enter key gets a lot of mileage for some people.

It makes responses longer, though.

I'm not sure why this is desirable.

Perhaps the people who post like this are stuck in the first grade when each line got it's own line.

I still remember having my handwriting critiqued.

And in the fourth grade I had a teacher who only allowed cursive.

Who writes in cursive anymore?

There's no reason to do it.

haha my cursive had been so bad that my 4th grade teacher gave up on me with it and had me focus on print. Luckily like you said nobody writes in cursive anymore or I'd be screwed! Yeah my post is a giant mosh of text.... I guess I should edit it a bit...at some point... haha

Just a question; you really feel that people do not notice your lack of arguments?

I gave plenty of arguments in the other C3PO hate thread. You ignored them (probably because everyone else agreed with them and that didn't serve your agenda). So, I'm now treating your ignorance with the respect it deserves.

Less QQ, more pew pew Elkerlyc.

FTS I keep cracking up with the pew pew comment, what is QQ though?
