Falcons are really easy to destroy

By Jobu, in X-Wing

I like destroying Falcons, find it easy to do so and know I am going to win a tourney match when my opponent brings one or two to the table.

This is just my experience in 5 tourneys I have been in since June started, others experiences may vary, but mine is just as valid.

I tend to enjoy running 4 ship rebel lists so that may be part of it. 2 weeks ago I shredded a Chewy with 3PO list & millennium falcon plus Dutch and Kyle (to give Chewy all the actions). I flew Hobbie, Tarn, Gold Squad Ion Turrets X2. I did not lose a single ship (200 pt MoV). I ended up placing 2nd in that tourney (1st loser).

I think my only question for discussion is, does anyone else have a similar experiences? Also do people think Quad Rebs is hard for the Falcon?

But... But, but but... 3PO is toooootally OP and unstoppable!!!1

Look at me! I'm awesome!

Sorry my post rubbed you the wrong way, wasn't meant to do that.

Obviously, ships are hard counters to c3po-falcon

if people ran ships, they wouldnt think it's so OP

One evade dice only goes so far when your opponent is rolling 12+ dice...

"I'm good at this game because I can shoot down falcons and I can shoot down falcons because I'm good at this game. Is anyone else good at this game?"

So you always face this same setup or were you just referring to this as an example? The 6 week tourney I am in right now I'm sitting in 1st after destroying a 4 ship rebel list and a phantom list using Chewie, Roark and an awing, Chewie and Roark were loaded with upgrades and the awing naked. So I understand you've been doing good against yt's that's great but i don't think a 4 ship rebel build is a guarantee win.

How do you do it? Double ion the Falcon and escort it off the board? What happens if the escorts are slightly more useful and shoot back?

For that matter, how does your list fair against TIE Swarm's or other common list types? I can see how what you have is fun and even good against some targets, but I'm not seeing it being the best Falcon hunter against a strong opponent.

Jobu, I'm actually hoping, perhaps against better judgment, that Dagonet wasn't commenting on your post...

Well I run different lists every time, but in this particular game I ended up using stress, ions and blockers to force chewy onto an asteroid and then kept him there with blockers and more ions. Its mostly about limiting his choices and taken advantage on that. This particular list handles the phantom fights I was in well, with stress and ions. Maybe not as good as a PS 12 stress action, but I designed this to handle a phantom.

I do struggle against TIE swarms in general. I have only beat a TIE Swarm in a tourney once, and it was against a new player so I do not count that.

I change my list every tourney, but tend to prefer 4 ship rebel builds. This one was built because I was worried about Phantoms and ran Roark the week before and didn't want to use him again. I am sure a Chewy list that is flown better than one of my 4 ship lists will beat one of my lists.

My original post was to strongly worded. I think Falcons are good and unlike other leading lists, you do not need a hard counter to defeat them. Just good flying. That being said if your opponent flys a Falcon list better than you fly yours, the Falcon list will win.

I should pull together a Falcon list for my next tourney. I am thinking Han with Engine Upgrades and other stuff.

You claim they are easy to "destroy". Yet you don't supply any evidence or support besides "ion and stress them onto an astroid.".

Not being a jerk here.. Just wondering what this thread is discussing..

Why? Why?

NEED DISLIKE BUTTON VERY MUCH!

Perhaps you should post something that has actual content, such as your strategy or build. Otherwise, you're just arrogantly boasting.

**** is hostile in here or just me? Cheers to the falcon

destroyers, cheers to the naysayers. Now, back to drinking

and watching the browns try to play football. :)

An 8-TIE swarm or even a 4 Alpha Interceptor + 2 Academy TIE swarm will eat through a Chewy-3PO Falcon quite easily.

I'm confused

Is this a "I am a pro, and I win every game thread "

I don't know

The title and post just sounds strongly arrogant, with a question at the end to make it seem like it's not what it seems

I think that this is a totally legit thread and don't find the OP arrogant at all. It's a good counter-thread to the "ban 3P0" threads. It's just pointing out that while a two-ship build has trouble against a Chewy-3P0 Falcon, a 4 to 8 ship build has a far less if not insignificant difficulty against it. When only one or two attacks are coming against it, Chewy-3P0 is exceptional. When four to eight separate attacks are coming against it, Chewy-3P0 is barely noticeable.

I like grape soda.

That's why I'm confused.

But to be honest while reading it, I felt as though it was more boasting.

Maybe the Op wasnt bragging, sometimes when reading something may sound different than as intended

I love lamp

I think since the OP has such a low post count that D4rkT3mp4r made a second account and padded the post count just so he could brag a little...

Like I said earlier, that wasn't really the intent. I also point out that I am not winning tournaments (2nd place) and regularly lose against swarms. I never once said I am a pro and never lose, other people decided to infer that. People also decided that I think I am awesome because I blow up Falcons. I never said that.

The question was meant to be legitimate, based on what I read on the forums, it seems like everyone struggles hard against a Falcon and I am just not understanding how that can be. They are good but very far from unbeatable.

I am kind of surprised by the hostility here.

So, you are saying I made this account in April of 2012 to plan to brag on the X-Wing forum? Who is that guy anyhow?

I am okay with people disagreeing with me, I am okay with people taking something I said the wrong way, I am not okay with people making things up about me. Please don't do that, its really uncalled for.
