Broken firespray

By nikk whyte, in X-Wing

I dropped my firespray Tuesday, and the only part that broke is the female end in the middle of the model itself. Completely in half, down to the base, never saw where it went.

Any ideas on how to make my firespray whole again?

That was my first thought, but at the top of the customer service page it says "we don't fix stuff you broke" (I'm paraphrasing.)

Since I dropped it, that sounds like it's on me unless I just lie about it.

True I forgot about that. Still can't hurt to try. Maybe they'll make an exception.

Glue one of the pegs in?

Glue one of the pegs in?

That's looking like the most immediate option i can take. Not sure how to ensure it'll stay nice and tight during the curing process however.

You could do it like this:

This is from when I repainted a Firespray. The mounting peg had to be removed before painting and it broke in the process as is usually the case when removing pegs. I just drilled a hole in both the peg and the model and glued a piece of piano wire into place as a reinforcement. Of course in your case you would need to use one of the mounting pins instead, but other than that the process is the same. Not only does this ensure that the pieces are properly aligned, it also gives extra strength and makes it easy for any glue to cure.

I removed that mounting peg from one of mine, and replaced it with a bearing, threw a donut magnet on the peg and now I have a Firespray that actually banks. I left it painted so it is a stiff movement, as when it is smooth it sometimes has a mind of its own.. lol

You could clamp it or use some really fast curing glue like 1 mibute epoxy resin.
