Obviously, TIE Defenders and TIE Phantoms don't have engines. Space moves around them.

In the original X-wing and TIE Fighter Videogames, this was how the game engine worked.

So if two of them were moving in opposite directions, wouldn't that pull the universe apart?

This is why imperials always fly in formation.

Ever wish you hadn't started something?

Yes.

Frequently...

JFYI There Interceptors in ROTJ that have a gren glow in their engines.

IM-POSSIBLE!! Pics or it didn't happen! Haha, overreaction aside, I'm am genuinely curious.

Also, they might have Twin Ion Engines, but the red could simply be exhaust ports or something similar.

You can see the green ones in the scene right after Lando says "fighters are coming in". Its right after you see the fighters first show up and attack the rebs. When the camera changes from cockpit view to a view with the falcon comming towards the scren, youl see Interceptors have passed by the falcon, those are the ones with green glowing engines. I have it as my background on my xbox360 and see it every time I login.
