If someone voluntarily goes unconsious to end the Riots rumor, do they get the reward (1 spell) before, or after they are forced to discard things for dying?

The rules say that if two things happen apparently simultaneously, then the first player decides the order if it matters.

I would say "after", though, just because the order is "discard stamina, then there are no tokens, so return the rumour to the box, then draw a spell".

I would also say that if you then get devoured by the Whippoorwills of Dunwich, your successor doesn't get the spell!

I don't know. The rumor says "if there are no stamina tokens left." I don't think this implies a strict order. I'd say the First Player settles the timing issue.

I'd say probably discard things, then get your spell, but I could be persuaded the other way.
