[Typo or new way to play a card ?]

By PRODIGEE, in CoC Rules Discussion

Regarding to what people said on the french board, I decided to ask the community about this point :

If you look closely to this card, you might notice that there is something different on the subtypes, as DAY took the place where the keyword used to be.

So what would you say about this one ?

Is this a Typo, or do we have a change for Day/Night Mecanisms, as day and Night loosed the Subtitle status to become Keywords ?

Interesting. Fourteen Day cards. Nine of those fourteen make it Day, a la "It is Day." All are Day subtype.

Prodigee brings an astute observation from le Cenacle. The Rays of Dawn, Cleansing Light is conspicuous - an Environment card with no Day subtype. With no other evidence, I would have said this new Dreamlands emphasis on Day and Night will have subtleties like this, like my nine / fourteen example above. But none of those fourteen make it Day and are not Day. Of course there's always room for something new. It could have an application, like making it Day without being subject to removal by a Night card that destroys all Day cards. That could be useful.

But, as evidence that it is a typo, the text gives it away. The text starts with, "Day. It is Day..." The first word, the word in question, even kept its bold type face had it been on the subtype line (though it is not italicized as is the subtype line). It is meaningless where it is. The obvious conclusion is that the first word of the text is only there because it got bumped off the subtype line.

"It should be Day," would have been text more apt. Zanned!

yes it's may be a lake of space to write the subtype to the right place (but here for the Rays you have space). But it's annoying, in Cthulhu LCG we have Keywords in Bold and Subtypes in Bold, Italics which are two differents things because some cards can interact with Keywords and some with subtypes. If it's a Typo, it's a very big one ! We can expect they have not already printed the cards or not all day/night cards have this problem !

Any news for the words Day / Night ?? It must be play like a Keyword or a Subtype ?

I fully expect that FFG will errata this card into:

Subtypes: Environment. Day.

&

Text from " Day. Its is Day...." to "It is Day..."

As for right now: Unless there are some new rules that come with the Asylum pack, there is no such thing as a Day Keyword. And this card ONLY has the subtype: Environment , until we get a ruling otherwise.

Feel free to meta however you like.
