Player Sucked Into Gate When Other Player Can Close It?

By jhorner2, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

So, here was the situation tonight:

1) A player was in the second space in an Other World. He was going to come back to Arkham, but there were two big ass monsters waiting; he couldn't have made the san rolls to be in a position to close the gate.

2) In the Arkham Movement Phase, there was another character strong enough to move to the space and clear it of both monsters. Of course, during Arkham Encounters, he's gonna get sucked into he gate.

3) So, if the player in 1) comes back and closes the gate, what happens to the player in 2), who will be in the same Other World the character in 1) is now closing? Note, there are no other open gates that match this Other World.

In the rule book it states you do not have to evade the monsters when you come back to Arkham through a gate from another world.

As for the gate closing. So the other player is in the other world. You close the gate. The player in the Other World moves as normal, however, when they are supposed to move from the second area of the Other World back into Arkham and there is no open gate to that Other World that player is lost in time and space.

Another important thing to remember in situations like this is the order.

Player 1 is first player, player 2 is in the other world and will try to close the gate, player 3 is the monster killer:

1) Player 2 moves from the other world to the arkham location, player 3 moves to the same spot and kills the monsters.

2a) Player 2 tries and closes the gate. Player 3 has an arkham encounter.

2b) Player 2 tries and doesnt close the gate. Player 3 is sucked through the gate and has an encounter in the other world.
