Is Frozen Waste worth the money?

By andrew35, in Runebound

I have all of the Runebound expansions and was reviewing the posted rules for FW, but I was less than impressed. It sounds like a stretch with the storyline about crashes spaceships and people in suspended animation. We've gone from the realm of fantasy to sci-fi and I'm afraid it's not going to have that same adventure feel. I have the Midnight expansion, but have yet to play it because of rumblings I've heard. I'm afraid if I get it that FW may just end up on my shelf collecting dust. Any recommendations?

I can fully recommend Frozen Waste. The endgame has its problems (but by far not as anti-climactic as Sands of Al-Kalim!), but when it comes to map-design the expansion really shines.

The red counters are relatively hard to reach especially as the weather gets colder. The map may get a bit crowded with more than three players, but who will ever want to play runebound with more than three?

A nice side effect for me was the fact that you see a lot more market cards than usual because of the citys with two cards each market step.

Hope this helps,
