Final Battle with Sorcercer King

By JGreening, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

I've played the sorcerer king and have played all along to win the final fight. I have all his upgrades (including Soul Ward) and have "Brother against Brother".

I have a couple of timing questions that I'd like your opinions on.

1. The card for brother against brother states it activates when the overlord figure is placed on the map. For all the other overlords that is at the start of the final battle, but the placing of the Sorcerer King on the map could be happen at two different times depending on how you read the rules, either :
(A). At the start of the battle or
(B). When all the mirrors are broken

What would you all suggest?

2. Soul Ward states that all surges against the Sorcerer King are canceled with no effect. - does this include:
(A) the mirrors and the Sorcerer or
(B) just the King himself?

How have you played it? Has anyone seen an official ruling of either.

Thanks

i would say that the king is'nt on the board 'till the mirrors are down, and that the soul ward only protects the king, since the mirrors have a diffrent statline, and nothing to do with him what so ever.

Interesting question - nothing official on that so far.

Another interesting question is whether the King in the mirror may Dodge or Guard against sniping heros. I would allow it since it would make the battle a lot more interesting.

Regarding Soul Ward I am uncertain, leaning towards the end that it protects only the King itself.

From my reading of it, the mirrors are just that. They are not the SK himself, so they wouldn't get any of the upgrades that he gets. He just has the ability to attack through them.

Though a Dodging mirro does conjure some funny mental images.

Ok, if the wording is that the SK may attack through the mirrors, then a Guard or Aim should be fine. Dodging, ok, this may look ridiculous ;)
