Plans for new LCG ????

By PBnJ, in The Crystal Ball and The Wishing Well

I was wonder in there wer plans to do a Sci-Fi type of LCG. FFG has a Great story/History with (TI) Twilight Impirium, that it would make a great LCG.

Starting with 4 factions and biulding from there. the playing board is easy enough with a victory piont track maybe a line of plants cards upsidedown to explore and hold/Attack even space combat in some form. just an Idea but it think this would be a good addition to the LCG list.

or even a fantasy LCG base of of the kingdoms from the runebound/ descent/ diskwar stuff.

Does anyone have any other ideas. I saw in old post a werewolf type/ or doomtropper type. that's good but I thing FFG will have a easier time with there own stuff..

would like to here other ideas out there.

thanks

I agree that FFG has some great sci-fi and fantasy properties. They've done great with the Runebound/Descent stuff. They seem to have forgotten Twilight Imperium lately, but there are SO many new games and systems they are supporting I imagine they can barely keep up with their ideas.

I had heard on another post that a new LCG is in the works and that it may be based on the Warhammer or Warhammer 40k universe. Those would cover you sci-fi and fantasy wishes pretty well.

And let us not forget, that googling for Sabretooth Games (the last publisher of the Horus Heresy and Dark Millennium CCGs) gives Fantasy Flight as a first hit. The connection is there, it remains to be seen what comes out of it.

This is good to hear. Looking forward to see what may come up.

.................. But you would think that with royalties to pay out it would be better for FFG to do a LCG based off of one of there own worlds/stories.

but what do I know. I sure FFG staffershave looked at all avenues on this.

Has anyone else hear of anything on this new LCG. serio.gif

I am pretty sure that a well executed and marketed game based on a GW lore would make all the loyalties wort paying. Dark Heresy seems to be quite the proof.

The Warhammer and Warhammer 40k universes provide for a rich setting that many would probably like to explore beyond the hobby of miniature gaming.

I wish I could remember what it was under. I think it was the Call of Cthulhu LCG, since I lurk there a lot. The OP mentioned at the time that the new LCG would be previewed at Gen Con. If that helps.

First sentence under "Enter the Darkness"

The whole thing is mentioned painfully "by the way", merely as an explanation for the set-backs on other LCGs. This is just a speculation, but my first association to "powerful licence" here is something WH or 40k themed. I might be wrong though, since it doesn't say anything about this license being already "known" to FF fans

Yeah, FFG bought out Sabertooth Games last year February (hence why they are now the publishers of Talisman). And there has been talk about a third LCG game, and I wouldn't be surprised if it came from something at Sabertooth. But FFG has alot of in-house licenses as well, so until we get some more information from the source, we get to speculate.

I'd absolutely love to see the 7th Sea get a chance as a LCG. With a fantasy pirate setting where lovecraftarian meets the classic swashbuckling, what is there not to like? One can never have too much pirates or dark misteries, surrounding untold richess.

I somehow doubt this is the "powerful" license they are talking about, even though the background is incredibly deep (as it was developed for the RPG of the same name).

I would love to see a Twilight Imprerium LCG.... The format could be similar to CoC/GoT (with a touch of Magblast) were the story blocks are plants to control ,gaining victory points for plants and events. Using both combat and influence to gain control of said planets or even reducing the # of resouces an oppt. has. Using ships as the main theme of combat, with characters as support/add on to improve the ships. reasouces on bottom of cards like the domain set up for CoC....call it your sock pile. The board set up could be 1 center planet with 6 plants around it hex shaped drawing and placing the plantes at each loction. Each planet have a victory point value then adding up the total value. the 1st player to gain 2/3 of said value is the winner, or even the home planet could have a set # value and finding way to take your oppt. Home world down to 0 value would be another way to win or gain extra VP.... not to metion all of the races they already have for it. What it at now 9 or 10 races.? The options are endless.

I logic on the is is FFG has a horror type LCG and Fantasy(mid evilish) typeLCG all that is left for them is a Sci-Fi type. OK they could still do a true Fantasy type ala Runebound/Desent. but we will have to wait and see.

So, the summer is here, is there anything on the horizon?

Huh, that was faster than I thought! :)

I would be shocked to not see a 40k product at some point (other than rogue trader) in the near future. Sabretooth had both a Warhammer Fantasy and 40K game out, and the whole thing about LCG's is that they don't take your entire wallet to play. Also, there's a big tide to be ridden with the new (relatively) core rules release. Plus I just want my Tau in LCG format. :^D

This game does seem to be heavily inspired by the Warhammer Online game, I wonder what would inspire a 40K game? There is a 40K MMO in the works the last I heard, not that it has to be tied to that but having a license helps, having cross-platform on a license is awesome, just look at the WoW products (the CCG and both of the board games).

I just wish they could put out blood bowl. :^/ I'd imagine it would be awesome under FFG's hand.

Ditto for wanting to see a 40K LCG.

Darn it! was hope'n for a Twilight Imperium 4 way LCG................... But this will do will. There's a lot of talk that this can be played with 4 players but I'm not see it. Does anyone know the low down on this as it will be helpful on if i will buy it sooner or later on. If this can be played with up to 4 players ........... nice count me in.

And YES a 40K LCg would be sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!gran_risa.gif

You know AEG could do their own LCG with 7 Seas as well as L5R. They would just have to pay royleties to FFG for the LCG rights to use. It's a thought. happy.gif

FFG should bring back Netrunner as a LCG... I'd be all over that.

good one! aplauso.gif
