Blitzkrieg Card

By panzerjaeger, in Tide of Iron

I wanted to know how people are interpreting the "Blitzkrieg" card from the Blitzkrieg Leadership Deck.

"All of your tanks activated this turn may take a special action to move up to their full movement and fire."

How do you intrepret this:

a. The tank moves its full movement, but still fires at half firepower as per a normal fire and move.

b. The tank moves its full movement, and fires at its full firepower.

I assumed choice "A" and of course my opponent assumed choice "B." Which is right? Someone who is better with grammar help!

Option B is the way I understand the card. It says nothing about full firepower, only full movement.

I would say (A) - full move and full firepower with all tanks? Scary

If you read the card, it says that the tanks may take a special action. That action is to move and fire. The move and fire rules would apply, unless modified. The modification is to move up to their full movement, which makes it special. There is no mention of modification to the fire rules. After all, Blitzkrieg is about moving far and fast.

Hello everybody,

What about firing first THEN moving ? Do you consider this card allows it or not ?

I think that is allowed with this card.

Okay, thanks for your reply.

I first, I thought this card allowed FULL movement AND FULL firepower (in ANY order), but after reading your comments, I'm now in doubt, as it could really be overpowered. However, Blitzkrieg almost won the war, right ?

Well, I guess I'll wait for either an official erratum, and agree with my partner before the game on the effects of this card. :-)

But... come to think of it : the cards reads "all the tanks activated this TURN".

To my understanding, it does not mean "all the tanks activated this ACTION PHASE", so depending on the scenario, you'd only get to activate 2 or 3 tanks with this special action, not ALL your heavy cavalry. That makes the card quite less overpowered. :-)

2 or 3 tigers advancing and shooting at full power is still a frightning prospect.

Nothing in the FAQ. I agree it's ambiguous. I agree with your interpretation; I think the card's indicating the tanks get normal move instead of -2 MP when they Move + Fire.

Overrun squads by those tanks also become disrupted instead of pinned.

Follow by a suppressive mortar attack, and you're done with them ! ;-)

So, in what scenario is this card used (I don't have my books handy) ? :-P
