Can character only keyword abilities be touched by bitter rivals? It didn't see in the pdf where it said it was on the card all the time, or only if you are that character.
Bitter Rivals vs Character only keyword abilities
This has been asked and answered before. If you are NOT playing the character mentioned on the card, such as Remy Multiple:1, then unless your starting character's name is Remy then BR will not see that it has a Multiple:1. However if you have that character then it is a free target for BR.
stamp for suija. the keyword isn't even there if you don't meet the requirement.
however character only is just a keyword description like punch or kick... but it has rules attached to it...
"Siegfried Only" isn't the same thing as "Siegfried Reversal", and has a different descriptor.
Or would you say "Siegfried Only" means the "Only" keyword is only there if you're Siegfried...?
well technically thats what the {character name} {ability} would be, so say a "Hata multiple" wont have the multiple unless your playing Hata, but if it were "Hata only" if it followed the same rules as the "Hata multiple" if you were playing say Herr, gamestate wouldn't see the "Hata only" HOWEVER in the rules character only is a keyword description so it is the same as a punch or kick. however later on it is given rules that if your not that character you cannot play it. so wouldn't that make it a keyword ability instead of description?
Character (insert word here), is a special case, in that If youre not playing that character, then effectively there is nothing there, whether it is "character only" or "character ability". Now the difference between "Character Only" and "Character Keyword ability" is that character only is effectively a keyword like punch or kick, it has no ability per se, it is merely a requirement that says that only that character can use it which the game will read if a player attempts to play the card, where as character "keyword ability" has a keyword ability as long as you are that character, as so can be discarded with BR if you are playing that character.
Put it this way, there is no direct rules text associated with "Character Only" that would make it an ability on the card... it's an actual game rule.
