some help required

By rubenmaes, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hello everyone

I could use some help on the final quest of the base game.

The last game we played I just got crushed by the heroes who by the end of the game had gotten more than half of all the treasures in their hands (and we're playing with all the expansions)

So now I want my revenge and give them a big ass whooping.

There is one player that has the (revised) leadership skill, so I was thinking of putting in the treachery cards that gains me 4 threat every time a hero uses an order. Another thing I wanted to do was put 3 dark glyphs in, one of each type.

Other hints that you guys have for me for the heroes incoming utter defeat?

Thanks

A tactically placed green dark glyph can save your day, two of them can kill almost any quest. I never used other colours, because the heros will not use these glyphs very often.

Add in the two Crushing Blows and destroy some of the better weapons or armor. A Frost spell could be helpful also.

The card that gives threat for an order (Pride?) I found to be of limited use.

Unholy Swiftness I do like a lot, since it boosts the monstersĀ“ activity radius, allowing for improved hit and run tactics.

And donĀ“t forget to bring your Lone Troll with an Aimed Bash ;)

Why did they have so many treasures? And why do you think the Leadership skill will still be present? Are you playing with the basic campaign rules (these make treasures go away)?

Yes, we play basic campaign with some house ruling, so that the heroes can have some more money.

The heroes started with some 750 gold or something and with all the chests and money in the dungeon...

Here's my suggestion: stop giving the heroes advantages. There, that should help.

+1. If you hand the heroes all kinds of loot/money/bonuses to start the quest, it's inevitable they will destroy you. Play the quest as intended (random hero draw, random skills, starting shop equipment), and you will have a much more fun/challenging time.

Agreed. If they get to start with a bunch of stuff.... what do you get to start with? Just throw yourself a few powers and extra treachery if you are going to play that way.
