Chewy crew timing question

By Krynn007, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Not sure if this was ever asked before but just want to check

Played a game tonight, chewy was in the hwk.

I rolled 2 hits and 2 crits.

He prevented one.

So he take 1 hit 2 crits.

First hit takes the shield.

Then he takes the crit, discards it and gets a shield back, which he then uses for the second crit.

My question is does he get the shield back before receiving that second crit?

It does say immediately recover one shield, so we played it that way

But after I was thinking, would that Happen after all dmg being dealt, meaning he would take the second crit and then recover the shield

The rules for suffering damage state you suffer the damage one at a time, so Chewie should be able to discard the first card and then regain the shield to use on the second.

Yep this is the way I have played it in the past. If I'm looking at taking a pounding in a turn I will try to save it for a crit.

Chewie's kind of expensive at 4 points, just to get rid of a damage card. I prefer to have him piloting instead.

Yeah he is my favoured falcon pilot for survivability but I will sometimes put him in a Hwk or as a crew in a different YT
