Does Dragon Breath's -1/+1 apply to itself?

By guitalex2008, in UFS Rules Q & A

Dragon Breath is a 3M5 attack that has a continuous text that reads:

"After you play an attack, it gets +1 damage and -1 speed while this card is in your card pool."

So... after playing it, since it's in the card pool but you also just played "an" attack, does the -1/+1 apply to it as well?

Then, is Dragon's Breath a 2M6 at the beginning of the Enhance phase?

there's a slight timing concern here with when the continuous ability takes effect and whether it can see that the Dragon Breath itself was just played. The continuous ability shouldn't start until the attack is already done being played and in the card pool, so I personally don't think it should be eligible for its own ability.

then why is howling spirits eligible for its how enhance?

that is completly different

howling spirits becomes active when it deals damage it's effect triggers after an attack deals damage

still doesnt make sense ._. but ok

It's not complicated.

When does a continuous ability go into affect? After the card it is printed on is played, or earlier in some special cases.

What does the continuous ability on DB say? "After an attack is played do some things".

Well they I think of it is,

"If this attack deals damage, for the rest of this turn, if an attack printed with difficulty of 3 or less deals damage, Your opponent loses 1 vitality."

Ok, so howling spirit deals damage, then the ability activates, so after the ability activates it goes back and sees that Howling Spirit dealt damage and causes your opponent to lose 1 vitality.

So now on Dragon Breath,

The attack is played, the effect goes into to play, now why can't the effect know that the attack was plated?

I'm with guitalex here. I would assume that it recognizes that it was just played (and affects itself), just like Howling Spirits' continuous effect (created by the E) recognizes that an attack just dealt damage.

Howling spirits is "if this attack deals damage" and then "after your attack deals damage". So your attack does damage, so its ability activates, and then after the attack deals damage they lose 1. As for Dragon Breath, I would argue that the attack is played, i.e. passing the control check, triggering any after an attack is played abilities, and then it hits the cards pool. As Dragon breath isnt in the card pool when it is played, it wont affect itself.

I would tend to agree; because it's not already in the card pool to recognize itself being played, it, theoretically, shouldn't affect itself.

But that's a good one to ask James, I should think.

Um WHAT? The card enters the card pool WHEN it's played, not after and not before.
