I think with a new expansions appears lots of items which can save your Life and a Character who is first on the Crown On Command sometimes have a problem with winning the game. Elixir Of Life have half a chance to save you even before Command Spell and ofter things like Poltergeist+Good+Chappel can make you even deathless. In future expansions should appears powerful items to reinforce a Command Spell (add 1 to the score or something like that). Maybe there also should be a rule that if someone is on CoC other Characters can only gain Life but not heal? For the moment there is not always worthwhile to go on CoC becuase other Characters can still grow up stronger while you standing there with a weak Command Spell and can't move back. I think the base of the Game should be reaching CoC first of all but it is sometimes useless...
Hard to win?
I don't find this problem, in practise anyway.
But, there is an optional rule wherein the first player to the Crown Of Command simply wins upon arival. I wouldn't dismiss this option if I were you.

Yes, but optional rules can be used only when all players agree before starting a game. If not other players do not want to stop because someone reached CoC. If think that base of the game is to struggle on CoC and it is the most interesting point for me. But what to do when one player reached Crown but his Command Spell is to weak to win - onlu half a chcance to be succesful? Moreover others have many possibilities to heal (like Elixir Of Life - with fate it is rather easy). Character on the Crown can do nothing beside Command Spell while others are growing very slowly and the game looks endless...
