Some ramblings

By HolyDragonCloud, in UFS General Discussion

This is just a basic update of what's been goin on, and my thoughts on a pre-lim observation of block 3.

So I opened up a box of SCIV and Shadowar the other night. the Shadowar box was underwhelming.

But, the SCIV box?

In the first 5 packs: 2x Raging Gnome, 2x Menuett Dance, 1x Shredding Vibrato. Yeah. First five packs. A Midnight Launcher would be added to that, along with Cervantes's ultra rares. The box was beast. there was a god pack, where the launcher was.

Today I played my new Ibuki deck (time to have fun in diversity, Magnus =P), and for the first time since block 1, I had a turn where I played two attacks just to put some damage up, then played some foundations out to end the turn. I felt soooooo happy doing that again. It was almost surreal. Her Own Agenda just works wonders, too. When you start blocking 10+speed attacks with a bad block mod and don't have to commit any foundations to accomplish such a feat, it always feels good. +6 to a check because I discarded a card from my hand? Yes? Sexy? Slightly?

I'm had more fun playing UFS today than I did throughout the entirety of the block 2 format. And I played all of 7 games today. There's a lot more thinking involved now, and games aren't stale anymore for me. And to hell with Willful. That thing denyed me denying someone their first turn.

I hope to see many of you at ECR!

Yes, attacking and dropping foundations in the same turn is satisfying.

And Willful? Well Willful's bringing sexy back for aggro. I'm tempted to call it an auto-include for aggro decks off those symbols. Mebbe not Chaos, for it has Destiny, but the other two? It's bringing sexy back.

Mm, agreed for the most part, fun game is fun.

But seriously, the same characters repeatedly topping each and every regional? Yeah...=/

Well, Shinji. I think it's more of an issue with the fact that people aren't gravitating toward the new characters. Let's see what can-nats holds.

I'm about to start working with mine after next week, so I will keep you up to date on any developments/tech I find for it =D

Also - screw Willful.

And Torn Hero.

Hey man it was alot of fun just testing out a ibuki deck for the first time in a tournament with out any play testing. I enjoyed every bit of it too and throwing about 6 attacks at someone today had to be the best time. Ibuki is alot of fun but next step is to make her into a tournement deck. till east coast who ever is thinking about playing her know we are ups for diversity

To be honest? Absolutely nothing. I'm still playing the same stupid deck I was running before Set 12 hit. Only one card was able to replace anything.

I think we've found a good indicator for whether a person plays Order or not (we know you do Geese), before the match ask them whether they like Willful and Torn Hero, if they say no, then you know they're playing Order.

I lol'd.

Honestly, Torn Hero makes me want to run Earth/Order, or possibly Good/Order. Frogase is extremely appealing to me due to ability to play Lotus, Torn Hero, and Experienced Combatant. Super committal time gogogo.

And when it comes out, be sure to listen to the set 12 podcast. Torn Hero gets a shout out xD

i have to agree with the op and say that i love were the game is at. I honestly think any deck, or any symbol can top right now (except life). I certainly didn't feel that way pre set 12.

HAHA I remember when we were all talking about torn hero is the new curse broken of block 3 . But ya honestly i have mixed feelings about both of those cards.

Welcome to the club :3

Her symbol spread is really insane, with Bigger They Are on two symbols + 5'3", all the insane redux Good has, the commit power of Order, and the, well, anti-Order tech of Chaos, plus several good cards lying in the intersections... It's hawt :3

My main problem is settling on a kill condition that will work - RSS was pretty reliable when I got it off, but I usually had problems unless I could bait my opponent into overextending {since there really wasn't a lot I could do to push it through, unless I got giant pile of N-Types + few cards remaining in their hand, or few foundations ready + Darkhunter}.

Just wait until nats Trane...what do i get if i top with Life? lol

Absolutly nothing new will happen at Can Nats me thinks. While some of the top 8 PLAYERS will be different... I full expect a top 8 to look like:

Chun Li (Air)

Gill (Order)

Hanzo (Kick!)

Jon Herr (Evil)

Donovan (Order/Spike or Order Aggro)

Zi Mei (Evil)

Akuma (Evil)

Alex/Nagase/Generic other 7+ handsize tank here (Whatever the strongest symbol on the toon is in the tier rankings)

Why would folks want to gravitate to the new stuff, when the old stuff is still faw superior in every single which way? And quite frankly, it's going to stay that way until stuff starts rotating (and even then we'll only say g'bye to Gill, Donovan, and Alex (I think))

Those characters leave next year.

As I predicted, one more year of stale bread.

God that would be one of the worst things to stare down in block 3 and frogase seems even better with the release of set 12.

Aww ****.

I think my girl got too much attention.

*races to the copyright bureau*

Hey Misssttteeerrr HDC, remember that rampage we set on during the NY teams AOP, hope you don't forget who helped you start that Ibuki beatdown, Suzaku for the win and lose????

Oh sir, i'll never forget the help you provided. I suppose you could say my vesting interest in Bukers began with the monster you brought for me to play. Forever thanks!

I still have the morrigan that Scuba signed for me after that match. That day would have been beautiful if Danny could have rolled like a champ and not a chump!

Glad to see people actually caring and posting optimistically. =)

What, you think I hadn't noticed? I see everything :3

She was in my list of potential characters for the GCC, all the way down to the top 4-5. And she may very well be what I play for our regional...Scuba's comment up there (^) is extremely true. I almost feel bad every time it happens, but getting inside the other guy's head with an almost impenetrable wall of bullcrappery is what I love.

Hence *Donovan*.

Earth/Life for the ultimate "no" deck.

Calming the Mind/Tough Outer Shell - Decelerates momentum and recursion
Torn Hero/Perfect Sense of Balance/Blinding Rage - Punishes attacking your foundations
Holding Ground/Battle Prowess/etc. - Removes damage.
