Range one dead spot? Who cares,HLC FTW!!!

By Knucklesamwich, in X-Wing

I wanted to give the outrider+HLC a shot last night. I have been wondering how hard it would be to keep the YT-2400 in range but out of range 1. I have only played with it once now but I have to say it was not hard at all to keep the outrider on the fringe popping 4 dice a turn. On only one turn did I find myself not being able to shoot because of the dead spot and that was because I failed to barrel roll when I had the option and I misjudged what my opponent would do and he was just a hair into range one. When in doubt I will always barrel roll now. With all the rebels options for granting focus tokens I think the outrider will be a major threat when sporting a HLC turret. You will be able to barrel roll then get a focus from an ability or PTL fairly easily. I play mostly imperials given the choice and I am really concerned about an effective counter for that combo, it was truly devastating especially against the Decimator my opponent was running.

I was able to keep my Phantom within R1 of the Outrider + HLC for four consecutive turns last night. My opponent was frustrated to say the least.

My Outrider list will most likely be:

Leebo

Predator

Dash Rendar (Crew)

HLC

Outrider Title

It comes out to 51 points of 360* HLC that can shoot while on an asteroid and can't be obstructed.

How long before we hear the inevitable calls for a ban on the Outrider Title as well? Just 12 points for a 4 attack dice turret which doesn't allow extra defense dice at Range 3? It's clearly so, so OP...

Just curious, Who was the pilot on the outrider and who was the pilot of the Phantom?

You must be a phantom savant I guess. The outrider has a very nice dial for being unpredictable.

I played Leebo+HLC+Outrider+EU+PTL+NN on Monday... and wow!

I think we may want to rename the Outrider title to Bandwagon.

I say that, but I am as guilty as the next guy for wanting to play it and having a blast doing so.

I really feel that NN (in combo with the mandatory PTL+EU) is the key to keeping something like a high PS Phantom from riding the doughnut hole. That green 4 straight opens enough options to make the YT-2400 a lot less predictable.

That said, the Phantom (and other high PS nimble ships) should be a decent counter to Outrider's potential domination.

What setup was he using? Specifically did it include PTL and EU?

EDIT: quoted wrong post, tried to correct but it's still messed up

I take it you didn't pick up on his sarcasm.

Dash was in the Outrider, he had one other upgrade other than Outrider and HLC.

I was running Whisper with VI, FCS, Recon Specialist, and ACD.
