Suggestions For Giant In-Store Campaign Map

By Bluejeanjedi, in X-Wing

With the growing popularity of X-wing, as well as Armada and Imperial Assault on the horizon, I am considering expanding our game store's campaign. Currently we have a bit of a piece-meal campaign, keeping track of fighter who are killed or damaged, playing towards a scenario total.

My new plan is to create a galactic map (on a large banner) to hang on the wall. I'd put the store's logo and Fantasy Flight's logo and basically have this giant battle tracker. So, each time someone plays, they select the planet/system they are fighting over, and the winner will place a marker on the planet. All three games (and even the RPG) could contribute to this growing tapestry of galactic conquest.

The largest obstacle to me at the moment is finding a simplified and vibrant image of planets (and connecting lines for hyperspace routes) that I could blow up on this banner/poster. Does anyone have any suggestions for who to talk to or where to find something? The few maps available are incredibly dense star charts, and while I could cobble something together my Photoshop/computer-imaging skills are elementary at best.

Thanks!

When I was planning to do something like this, I turned to Empire at War's map. I drew in the hyperspace lanes myself as I don't remember them being physically represented on the galactic map.

That sounds like an AWESOME idea!

Let me just plug my friend DagobahDave for a moment. Check out his Unofficial X-Wing Galactic Campaign, in which he has exactly that sort of thing for online, or the more recent Unofficial X-Wing Galactic Campaign - Season 2, which is based on a smaller map.

Dave actually specializes in selling you visual content for you to print out, and you can check out his creations here: http://www.davesgames.net/. He also creates a lot of rules for stuff like what you're talking about.

So, check all that out.

Mikael Hasselstein, I'll look at that. I saw his campaign page but wasn't sure who to contact. Good stuff.

Khyros, that's a good idea. That might be worth exploring. Thanks!
