Gorgeous dungeon scenery for our Descent dungeon crawls

By Chinkster, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hi folks....

For those of us playing the Descent dungeon crawl quests, there's a fantastic Kickstarter project on right now:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1621774283/battle-systemstm-fantasy-dungeon-terrain

Looks great and will add some life to our games... especially for those of us who can't do the actual 3D casting of dungeon tiles and walls... this is the next best thing: 2.5D! :)

Too bad it only works for the dungeons... no outdoor scenery yet :(

(I am not affiliated or associated with this KS project in any way).

I particularly like the Stargate. =P

Cant really see how to use it for descent, but i have already supported them to use for RPG's

It is really awesome!

If you have enough Dungeon set you can preassemble a bunch of tiles I would think, but sizing may be a little off. I'm currently in the process of doing a HirstArts conversions for 2E

2E's varied locales made this a lot harder, but the resulting pieces will be stunning once they are all planned out!

Both of those posts are cool stuff indeed. The dungeon scenery I don't think would be an easy fit to get to work with Descent though. Also at 129 dollars US... yikes...

I've got a good enough imagination and some wet erase markers for my DnD/Pathfinder sessions thank-you-very-much. :)

That stone stuff looks pretty cool though lorddax, hope it turns out well for you.

Well, thats how i ahve ben doing for the last 10+ years with pathfinder/dnd

But the abality to make the "board" more interative and with great terrain. We are really bad at using cover tactically, but with a table, than actually can be flipped, it will do alot i am sure

I also use the hero quest mini furniture... that game was the best buy in the history of gaming. Well, my mother bought it for me when I was like 11... but here I am as an ::ahem:: adult ::cough:: and I'm still using those minis and furniture.

Oh yearh, if only i had that....

Wish i still had my copy... it went missing at some stage over all these years :(

I too got all of this HQ awesomeness, but then where do you put the Heroquest furnitures on the tiles? I know Shadows over Nerekhall had some sort of library tile with bookshelves figures couldn't walk on, so these work great for the two Heroquest shelves, but other than that I find difficult to find tiles that allow such thing. I also think the base game had three treasure chests only, 4 would have been cool for representing the search tokens in a 4-players par, barring the cases when you need one to be unique.

I was thinking about ways to pimp up the map without redesigning things, and came up with the idea of designing tile frames. I don't have a picture at hand of something that could even remotely look like what I have in mind, but basically you could design an underlay for every tile size and opening configuration (alternatively make it modular) that you could connect like the tiles, giving you rocks/vegetals on the exterior of outdoor tiles, and bricks/walls on the edge of indoor tiles. That would look awesome but would be a true challenge in modelism. Somebody needs to throw out a project on KS :)

Check out his stuff. I have some of their malifaux terrain packs that I love, been thinking about buying some more and it is relatively inexpensive. Print it out at kinkos and voila
