Do the nubs count?

By Intys Rule, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Played a game of X-Wing on vassal and the very end of the nubs of my ship went into the side of the base of the other ship. Maybe 1mm or so. The other guy called it an overlap and hence, no action.

While I've never dealt with this situation before, and indeed in actual, physical games, there is a degree of uncertainty so this can probably slip by, well, Vassal is immune to clumsy hands and table bumps and with the zoom function, well, you can see it pretty close-up.

Is there an official ruling on this? Do the guide nubs on the bases count or are they just there for guidance?

NO they do not. I'll let other give reference from where.

Going to be hard to provide a reference for this, since it's wrong ;)

The nubs count for everything except range measurement. All other cases which reference the base, including overlaps and board edge checks, you count the full base including the guides.

nubs DO count for everything except measuring range. If the nubs stop you from putting your ship down, its a bump.....

except on Vassal. Vassal play contains an exception to the rule, simply because the nubs on vassal (in order to make them usable) are much larger compared to the base size than the acutal nubs are. Because of this, it was suggested, and has been the case in all tournaments I'm aware of, that the nubs don't count on Vassal.

Shamed :( I knew the range part and for some reason thought it was overlap also. With the way the forums have been lately I am glad I wasn't flamed.

#3 is profit.

I seem to remember the size of the nubs on Vassal being reduced to approximate the physical ones. I was told that they do count as part of the base now, but it has been a while since I have played on there.

Only thing the nubs count on are Bomb tokens when measuring to see if a ship is in range from the token....per the FAQ.
