The real reason the 3rd faction is a tough sell

By chilligan, in X-Wing

How will they explain "Rebel Captive" lore-wise? Scum won't even flinch when shooting at an Imperial ship with a Rebel captive on board. So what if he has a good bounty alive? No reason to get stressed...

On a more serious note, do you think we will ever see an "Imperial only. When facing Rebels..." effect card?

Also Imperials still take stress when shooting at a rebel captive.

They just don't want to upset Vader. He wants him alive!

*Rebel Captive blows up*

"... Get my Shuttle ready. I shall apologise to Lord Vader personally."

He is a high value target. Probably worth a lot to all sides. For scum he has a bounty but only if brought in alive, for imperials he has critical intel and thus why rebels get stressed for shooting at him as they don't want said intel to fall into imperial hands plus the idea of shooting one of your own comrades and all that.

"Do not harm the bounty"

One card doesn't 'fit' with the new faction. Better sell all my ships.

can haz stuf?

But can my Bounty Hunter make a "don't care" roll? Or maybe he's already got enough on his mind (stress!), and it slips his mind that there's valuable intel to get from that captive...

As a great man once said: "He's worth more to me alive."

Think positively. There are ways to explain why scum would get stressed. Bounty hunters, most of them, follow a code nonetheless, and pirates want the credits. If it is worth more alive than dead, it is worth the try.

I don't know, it is like watching Star Wars and repeating every two scenes, "this can't happen".

I am supportive of this new scum...they have thier uses and wear thier vices on thier sleeves. Still scum but at least they are not terrorists.

I would love to see more "prisoner" or "bounty" style cards for us and the scum. Flavorful and fun! I'd especially like to see a crew card for the firesprays that can take a "_____ only" crew along as a prisoner and use thier effect (perhaps roll a dice and turn it face down on a hit so you couldn't always use it).

No disintegration.

I'm buying a bunch of them. No tough sell here.

Sorry, I thought you'd have more of a point to this thread. You know, actual reasons to your statement. Guess that's out!

'He's no good to me dead'

yea sure, like FFG never adjusts cards after they are released.....oh wait...they do? then your point is mute.

The captive was on YOUR shuttle..

All of the officers working under my command don't bother to make the distinction between "Rebel" and "Scum"; they just call the enemy "Rebel scum!" It doesn't matter whether they were fighting for ewok rights or trading illegal spices for a profit, they get thrown in jail, interrogated and, eventually, executed, as it should be ;)

Why does anyone get stress anyway?

Does the fight go something like this?

Rebel: Hey, let's shoot that ship over there

Imperial: Not so fast, we have your friend Jim on board!

Rebel: Jim? Jim Sweeny, or Jim Hobbes, because Jim Hobbes is kind of a dbag...

Imperial: Oh no, totally that Sweeny guy. Who would want to take Hobbes captive anyway?

Rebel: Fair point, man. Fair. Point.

No. Money is a perfect motivator for the bounty hunter.

And Adimral Gary McGary was never heard from again.....

"Tough Sell..."

Yeah to BS Tourist that do not love STAR WARS as a whole, and have no intention of supporting FFG while they make the best Star Wars Universe Games ever produced.

:D

It was a tongue-in-cheek post, but I guess that's hard to convey.

Ha ha! Nice. I can only respond with "Shut up and take my money!"

I was kind of thinking that by the wording, but a lot of not cool people hate the third faction. Nice to know you are not one of these ridiculous haters here.
